VA Timeliness

The Denver RLC says 5 to 7 days however they don't count the day it is assigned. Got one today that won't start timeliness until Monday. Liquidation assignments are calendar days regardless of whether it's over a weekend.

The average age for VA panel members IN MY MARKET is fairly high. Seems the VA has been putting on some younger appraisers recently.

What's the average age of a VA appraiser? I should qualify.
In my area, the average age is about 75. REALLY. I'm 52 and the youngest I know of in my county. I know of at least 5 who are over 70 (my old man included).

There is one guy, Ed, who is pushing 80. He pulls along one of those oxygen tanks with him, and has an assistant measure the house. He can not make it up stairs, and has a waiver from VA to allow either the homeowner or his assistant take the upstairs photos, so he can "SEE" the upstairs. He generally parks his rear on the first chair available, and has the homeowner tell him everything about the house.

At least once a month I will get an appraisal reassigned to me from him, where he either couldn't make it through the inspection, or where he is in the hospital. But he keeps on trucking. I have seen his work, and will reserve comment...

We just had a VA appraiser surrender her license...she is 78. Four VA appraisers in my family, well sort of...one is ex-brother-in-law. Terry is 71, I am 69, Tom is 58, and Spencer is 42 (I think).

Two of our long time panel members are quite ill and probably won't return to appraising. Four appraisers I have trained are also on the panel...they are all under 50.
