It's likely you haven't been clued in on the intended use and the scope of work. It can be done but you have to be in an area where there is enough volume to allow you to get in the groove and do them quickly.
 
I did an exterior appraisal for them about a year ago and never got paid.

What if the service really was something that could be done in 20 to 30 minutes without moving from your chair, could be made to comply with any USPAP obligations, and there was adequate volume to make it worthwhile?

What service makes an appraisal USPAP compliant? Only an appraiser can do that through their fulfilling what is needed to develop and what is in workfile. I have not seen an client ever give volume and yet demand so little in what is needed to complete the assignment that the fee is worthwhile, when you find that company please share it with everyone!
 
What if there were red, pregnant, flying roosters that invaded the Holiday Inn Express and they demanded medium rare cheeseburgers?

Obviously you have no experience or seen some of the work that Valligent does. Suggest you thoroughly read SR3.
