Good post Dave. Additionally, I'd say that every appraiser should cultivate local clients. I have found that most local clients pay full fee, only accept "paper" appraisals and don't deal with AMC's. Wean off the AMC's and let them "wither on the vine." You can give better service to your local clients and they will appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think AMC's are bad, I just think that any appraiser who wants to make real money should concentrate on local, private clients.
