Value of An Honest Appraisal

Randy,
I think everyone gets your point, and most of us know it's our responsibility to put a stop to those who 'push the numbers'. My frustration is that if every home 'owner' out there would take a bit more responsibility for their own business then we wouldn't have to be the scapegoats in the end.
The media is finally getting their teeth into predatory lending stories, and I have very little doubt that there will be plenty of blame being pointed at the appraisal business as a whole. They'll want someone to call the bad guys, and thanks to the rogues in our profession we're all going to be considered guilty by the court of public opinion. We're all dreaming if we think that any appraiser will be interviewed on the TV stations or in newspapers if he or she starts casting stones at the poor 'victims' for being irresponsible. Nope....it's going to be the crying homeless who will be the headliners.
This forum is one of the few places where we, meaning those who know where the real problems lie, will ever have a voice....therefore I vent.
