Yes but he died-but- I used to go to his shop , my experience is very little value in old machines except to use for spare parts. Its a terable business today and my advice is just say no. You are just buying another persons losing business.

I worry about damage to the machines and you have to go fix it.
Especially in SF, criminals will break things to get things they want.

A friend was offered a route with older vending machines and asked if it was a good idea. I have no idea how to direct him. So I thought gaining some insight on the components involved in evaluating the venture would be helpful. So far, it seems to me like more risk than reward, considering mechanical breakdowns, vandalism, and security, machine placement, contracts etc. I'm surprised at the prices being demanded for newer machines, since what I'm reading so far shows typical monthly gross of between $35 and $400 per machine which includes the PRODUCT! So I thought I'd ask the experts here for some insight.

Not to mention the employees who have to get the money out of the machines get robbed on their routes all the time. That would be my major concern.

A friend of mine had/has a sticker vending machine biz. Operating it for 30 years at least. Has a very nice lifestyle. Gets stuck with stickers that go out of favor every once in a while. Simple machines, no electricity, small footprint.

Valuation? No idea but machines are cheap, locations are valuable.

One bent coin puts you out of business until removed. One criminal with a laminated bill and string rips you off.
One vandal with epoxy glue stops up the money slot.
