This is an issue that many appraisers need to pay attention too. We now know what these portals have been utilized for and may be a cause for perhaps thousands of altered appraisals or data-mining for over inflated data for AVM's. Mr. Dodd has made excellent points and also note the last part of the Scoop and who is sitting by whom. What every happens in Virginia could have ripple effects throughout the other states.

A good article on the problems of transmitting the appraisal report.

I thought it interesting that Zaio and FNC have so much in common.

"What every happens in Virginia could have ripple effects throughout the other states."

Thats why now is the time to make some noise to the powers that be; from your State Board to your favorite Pres. candidate, let them know about it.
Get a petition out to appraisers in your state (i'll bet George Dodd will let you use his petition a template to cut down on drafting time), it will help educate the appraisers in your state to the seriousness of this problem and possibly light a fire under their tail. Gather your petitions and make a presentation to your Board/Governor/Congressman.
It only takes one motivated appraiser in each state to get a grass roots movement going and make enough noise to get some attention; mulitply that by several States and we will see some change. Even an 800 pound gorilla can be forced to back off!

Seeing Joyce noting Cert 24. I realized i have not read any of those in a while. But I saw something in Cert 21 were it appears that no one needs our permission for Data collection. From our reports.

We can not control what the client does with our reports after the fact (cert 21), but we sure as heck better have control of the signature and content at the point of/during delivery. As far as cert 24 in concerned, I do not see the connection to portals forcing me to give up control of my signature and content prior to transmittal of the report.

George is a very professional and caring individual and appraiser. I hold his friendship in the highest esteem. He does appraisals in a different market from mine but we have worked together on issues before the state board. Even got the state board to write a change to a state regulation on the use of Trainees in Virginia. He is a friend and a peer. I am sure that George would gladly give his permission to use the petition in any state. I was at the meeting of the appraisal board when George presented the petition with almost 200 signatures and so many appraiser in attendance they had to bring in fold up chairs for most to sit on and still ended up with some having to stand. He has my support, trust and admiration.
