After that it will (again) come down to a business decision for appraisers. I think we all know how that decision will turn out.

I think I know what you're thinkin'. ""We'll flex our unified, almighty and borderline omnipotent professional clout as American state licensed real estate appraisers and make the users of mortgage lending appraisal reports cower and bend over backwards to comply with each and every one of our demands and if they don't we'll bury them?"" :new_smile-l:

That, or some appraisers will provide the service being requested of them and reap the monetary rewards for being intelligent business people. Others will stomp around and pout because they don't feel they have any power.

Even if they're not dressed like this, I get your drift.

because they don't feel they have any power.

:)

Which is actually, basically true.:icon_mrgreen:

Maybe if I realign myself with the Appraisal Institute once again, or even the Virginia Real Estate Appraisal Board, I can become empowered, faster than a speeding loan officer, stronger than mortgage banker lobby, able to leap tall HVCC's.

somehow I don't see Hatch stooping to what all three of you have just posted. I am sorry you have to insult folks rather than just debate the issues on their own merits.

I hope what happens is that formsware companies and portal companies will start playing nicely together. If they would we would at least not have this problem.

This is a large part of the angst. This was demonstrated to me yesterday by an appraiser with an "AIReady problem."

He was trying to insert a regression analysis into a report. The problem was that when he put it in his report and converted it to AIReady format the text lost its formatting and the scatter diagram disappeared.

However, when I inserted the same thing using my software it looked fine. He sent me the file and I did a cut and paste straight into a report. The text retained the formatting and the diagram looked just as it did in Excel.

The only difference was that he uses Brand X forms software and I use Brand Y and the AIReady support was different between the brands.

Lighten up man. Oops wait, we can't, we're serious and important professional real estate appraisers. We threaten civil action/lawsuits against those who dare to disagree. :new_smile-l:

Several prior warnings not heeded. Don't email me about it.
