Virginia Board 8/19 meeting may have national coverage

PE,

Good to hear you Chair continued this issue.

Think about this; All Government impedes commerce.

USPAP compliance is an impediment to commerce. Licensing in any form is an impediment to commerce. Truck Drivers have CDL's. I dont have a CDL so I can not conduct trucking commerce without the CDL. Government limits the size and weight of trucks, another impediment!

We either have government or we dont.

Just a thought!

Sorry I could not make it both times. Pam can explain it to you, but no one else. I really wanted to be there.

I have two solutions to the issue. I will be more then happy to discuss them with you privately. The first solution will result in a show down between VA Board and the TAF. The second solution will also result in an uproar but will not likley result in a showdown with the TAF.

Looking at the track record of the TAF suggest even if there is a showdown it will likley result in a stalemate and also provide protection and cover for your state licensee's and stengthen the public trust.

Carnivore,
Gimme a holler when you can.....I HONESTLY beleive our Board is beginning to get a grasp of this issue....but still a long way to go....any and all assistance and/or suggestions are welcome, you know that.

Pturner, it was a pleasure again to have the opportunity to be at your state appraisal board, I spoke to some of the board member and local appraisers and were surprised that a Texan was taking notes from the VA appraisal board on the issue of the transmission of reports. I can assure you that I will begin to attend my state board meetings and introduce issues that can, and have had an effect on the public trust.

Pam,

Please stay out of and away from Virginia, The last thing we need here are more appraisers that are willing to place the blame on someone else rather than taking a long hard look at themselves and their peers first.

I agree that the lenders and brookers that preasured appraisers were ethically wrong, but the appraisers that accepted those assignments are the real criminals and need to be thrown out of appraising all together. Please stop your finger pointing at others and look in the mirror.

If your not fighting against the appraisers that commited fraud then your don't deserve to be an appraiser either. Stop wasting your time fighting the wrong people, all you are doing is wasting your time making excuses for **** poor appraisers that are willing to sell thier soul for $350.00!

SMF,

You seem to have a very distorted view of the body of Pam's work.

She has never excused bad appraisers and has supported enforcement of appraier rules including conviction of crooks.

Do you have her mixed up with someone else?

She's hitting to close to home for you eh? This from a CG who will not even identify themselves by name and location in Virginia. I believe there are several hundred people in Virginia that would encourage Pamela to keep doing what she is doing, and, I for one would welcome Pamela to Virginia, and to an appraisal board meeting anytime she damn well pleases to come. At least she uses her own name, and tells you very clearly, if you can read, what she is for and against.

Keep up the good work Pamela:clapping:

I doubt she will grace your office with her presence .. however, its not your state so she is free to move about the country as she likes.
Id suggest you stop wasting your time going after the one that is trying to bring ALL to light ... that being said ... have a good day.

Going after bad appraisers alone is like a dog chasing his tail. The bad appraiser is just a symptom of a vastly larger problem. What about the system that seeks out and rewards bad appraisers? The real powers to be want all the blame to go to the appraiser so that the focus and spot light never hits where the real fixes reside. Every profession on the planet has unethical and/or incompetent actors, but what makes the appraisal profession different is that these bad actors are sought out and rewarded. Lets focus on fixing the entire system that rewards them and punishes the best among us.

The worst opinion I've seen of the appraisal profession comes from appraisers themselves, when are we going to stop throwing ourselves under the bus. No wonder we get no respect from others, we don't even respect ourselves or so it seems.

If you do not like what Pam is doing, that is your right. It is also Pam's right to fight for what she believes.

Pam has sacrificed much for this profession and I for one (along with many) support and am grateful for her efforts.
