I just received an email with a subject line "jtrice" and a return address of "jtrice@appraisalbuzz.com". It has two attachments, one of which is an executable file. My virus program detected that it contains the KLEZ/32 virus and deleted it.

Don't open any emails with attachments if you're not absolutely certain they're safe. Be careful out there.

(The return address of the Appraisal Buzz doesn't necessarily mean that's where this virus originated.)

Wally:
Thanks for the heads up
and

also for the gentlmanly point that Joan Trice may not be directly involved in this matter!

Can we skip the bashing on this one, folks?

Thanks Wally,

Just got the same e-mail "twice" 8O.

I deleted without opening. It had no subject line but contained 130mb :?

I got an e-mail with Bugbear attached. It originated from the AI chapter e-mail files (I recognized some of the names). Anyone can be hit.

received the same file....deleted it!

That's one of the reasons I use Yahoo. It catches them and tells me I received the email but the attachment with the virus is no longer attached or available to open.

I received that same buzz email with no attachment.

Something to be aware of is that many virus programs will use an entry from YOUR address list as the "from" name. Makes it impossible to track where it really came from.

I have a great anti-virus program and have not had problems myself - in fact I haven't gotten this one.....but.....I got a nasty email from someone telling me to remove them from my email list!!!!

It was someone I never heard of, and I suspect it came from someone else that has a worm and has me on their address list and this person is desperately sending out emails trying to stop it. I guarantee my anti-virus program works so I know it is not me.

Anyway, there is not a day that goes by that I don't hear something about a worm or virus. I only do personal emails on my home computer and this is where the message came to today. Let me know if you hear anything else.

I believe that the same or a similar virus was coming from the Appraisal Buzz emails a few months ago.

Joan Trice mentioned it in one of her mass email updates.

I also recieved a note that there is a virus out that is in the form of an email greeting card.

By the way - I use Norton's Anti Virus and maintain the subscription and updates. It has caught everything so far. As a second note, if you use this and are using Windows ME, ME puts a copy of every file on the computer and you can't erase them, so you can have infected files showing up with a .cpy end. However, they're generally harmless. So, even though your virus scan shows these, don't worry. They will go away at some point.
