Oregon ACLB Administrator Bob Keith resigns after 13 years to go into the private sector.

There wasn't much notice there. I am guessing there is more to the story...

Personally, I am going to miss Bob. He was fair and open. Hope we get a good replacement.

He's also funny and a great dancer. I think a lot of people will miss him.

Found him.

Word is that the board was sued by out of state appraisers for biased treatment and the state lost the law suits. My experience is similar. Before you throw too many accolades out there, you might want to visit with some who had run ins with the board and were treated badly. I am one of them.

Anyone else want to share their experiences with the board?

Please PM me to share yours. Based on the lack of revocations in the past 12 years, I always thought Bob ran a "no kill" board.

Check difference between licenses lost in Oregon compared to out of state appraiser's licenses either revoked or surrendered. Not a pretty picture. I had never had such bad treatment. Never had someone from a board yell at me and curse me on the phone. First time offense and they wanted my head on a platter. Almost three years later and they had run me out of money to fight them. I have sent a complaint to the ASC.

The first time I had a complaint filed against me, Bob was the one that dealt with me. He could have easily found things in my workfile that were missing (It was my first year appraising) but he let me off easy. He was really good to me. I have also taken classes from Bob and I always really liked him and his classes. I can't say the same for Chuck Fisher. I have dealt with him a few times and he popped me on a few things. I thought about fighting it in court, but didn't want to go down that road. I took the slap on the wrist, paid a small fine and moved on.

I have heard that the Oregon ACLB has been very aggressive on going after appraisers. When one of those complaints show up in the mail from someone who turns you into the ACLB.....it is the most stressful thing in the world. Even if you know your appraisal and workfile and solid as can be. Having those guys go over your stuff with a microscope...no matter how solid it is....is scary stuff. They are very powerful and they can find something wrong if they want to. I think an appraiser who wanted to turn lawyer could make a TON of money in this state defending appraisers in lawsuits and against the ACLB.

The thing that ticks me off is when people file complaints to the ACLB because they are mad about the low value. (this happens ALL the time and the Realtors love to encourage people to do it when there is a sale fail because the value didn't meet the sales price) I think these should instantly be thrown out. But they investigate every single complaint that comes to them. Probably why they are so behind and it takes over a year from the time of complaint before the thing is even dealt with.

Chuck Fisher and Bob Keith have both left in the last few months. There must be something to this. Something is going on. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
