Does anyone know why a website would not come up in a google search? Its newly created does it take a few weeks for it to start showing up in a search?

Think about it. It's a new site. How does Google know about it? Google is great but it does not have ESP. To speed things along you can register the site at Google's registration URL at: http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Google constantly crawls the web and will eventually find it, but registration will speed it up. Still could take a few weeks before it is in the Google index however.

while you are at google, read how their crawlers work. Pretty complicated, but one ofthe things they look for is how many links there are to your site and there are a couple of big sites (they name one) that will help improve your standing.
