What are some tips to make my files smaller?

IIRC, it's not possible to choose Acrobat as a printer in T2013. I think we're stuck with their in house PDF printer. At least it's better than Bradford's outhouse printer.

Nonetheless, you can open your PDF in the full version of Acrobat after you've created it and use the tools in Acrobat to further compress your file.

If you choose the "Save As", "Optimized PDF" you'll be able to choose the various resolution and compression settings so that you can fine tune your PDF file.

I use Acrobat for transmitting high resolution files for four color printing and there are lots of options tucked away in the menus to control lots of things.

My uploaded files generally run 2.5-3.0mb. Whenever I have a larger file the photos are usually the culprit. In your photos and maps you can right click on the image and go to optimize photos and at the bottom it will tell you the size of the image. That is where I would start.

8-10 mb sounds huge to me; mine are usually 3-4mb with 20-30 photos, 2 maps, and at least one "exhibit" that's an image from a table in excel.
Something is funky with compression of your photos -- as a guess.
? Try removing & reinstalling Total?

My reports compress to 2,000 Kb or less usually . Clickforms usually 1,200 kb

You've got something screwy going on. My pdfs average around 5.0mb and xmls about 1.0-1.5mb larger. That's with a minimum of 25 pics and usually a minimum of 5 attachments (market analysis, sketch, map, plat map, deed, survey, etc.).

I turned in a 40 page report in WinTotal yesterday with 3 aerial photos, two plat maps, 3 pages of 15 photos each, 3 pages of Comp photos, a flood map, a location map, and a zoning pdf. It only totalled 4.41 MB. I'd say something's screwey Bugs.

Start with your camera and set the resolution to the lowest possible. In a report, no one will know the difference between a high resolution image or a low-resolution image.

IF you can adjust your PDF print settings, follow the instructions in the attached file. Depending on your version of Acrobat, the instructions might vary slightly.

If you have fully operation Acrobat software, there should be an option to Reduce File Size in the Documents tab. You can use this on existing documents.

I send out multiple hundred page narrative reports with numerous pics, maps, detailed comp write ups and other items. If I don't reduce the file size in the Print settings, as described in the attached file, even my largest file is typically only 12MB with my images taken at lowest camera resolution. Selecting the Reduce File Size option can reduce that size by half.

Quite some time ago I had a similar problem. It had to do with "Flattening" or some such. I use AlaMode. If I remember files were being automatically saved at larger sizes than what I was set up for. Basic settings did not show that. It took a long time to get AlaMode to recognize there was a problem. Onece they did it was fixed.
