What Is The Best Pad/tablet For Formfilling In The Field?

The only way I could figure out how to correct a measurement error early in my drawing was to delete the whole sketch and basically start over again (including having to re-measure). I'd really like to learn how to do the field sketching, because I know it could at least save me the time it takes to re-draw every sketch once I get back in the office.

Thanks for that video. I tried searching through the alamode video options, but didn't find many that dealt with mobile sketch. That will be helpful the next time I attempt a field mobile drawing. *To be honest, I didn't even know what the icons at the top of the sketcher screen symbolized. Need some time to learn a new system. Looking forward to going digital and not looking back.

Forgive me if this has been covered. I just quickly skimmed through the post. But I am looking at the 7" Amazon Fire for my kids. At $50 each they would be a pretty low cost tablet to get started with.

Sorry, my mistake. Yes I am talking about the new Fire. I'll correct my post.
No need for a correction, I wasn't sure if they were the same. Looks like a great choice.

Took a leap of faith yesterday. Drew the house on the computer sketcher in the field, scribbled notes onto the notebook "notes" page, and took all of the photos directly from my Samsung tablet. Hopefully it all works out fine when I begin to write up the rest of the report on the laptop.

How do you guys that use ipads take notes? It seems like it would take forever to type everything in with my thumbs and IIRC styli only work with certain programs. I also don't think dictation is viable for obvious reasons. What is the solution?

Is Microsoft Journal still a thing on tablets? I used to use that for all my notes when I used to use a tablet in the field. I would take notes, convert them to text and cut and paste them into the form. Would also draw the sketch there because the sketch program I was using at the time wasn't great on the tablet. It had its own printer so you could print anything into Journal format and edit it. I used it to sign documents all the time, it was great.
