What is the criteria to get on the VA approved panel?

Thanks,
Joey

Somebody has to retire or croak. Other than that, probably being certified and three letters of referral. Wish they gave preference to those who are actually veterans. Nice thought. I first applied 13 years ago...still waiting but not holding my breath.

kickbacks always help in any government office....if you know the right party :)

... did i say something wrong?

In my region...

Minimum of 5 years experience.

Certified Residential

Clean record, letter of recommendation from another panel appraiser plus two others such as lenders, politicians.

Patience...most wait for at least 5 years. Took me 7 and urging from my congressman.

Be in an area where there is a high demand for VA loans is a big +

Train with an existing VA appraiser. I was the first in the family to get on the panel. Since then my brother, my nephew, and my ex-brother-in-law have all made it.

Three appraisers who trained under me are also on the panel. It's who you know in some cases.

Sumit a good package to the VA. Update it annually. Call the RLC and talk to the valuation officer, chief of the valuation division, some of the reviewers. Even ask for a personal interview.

Remember the squeaky wheel gets greased. Keep your name in front of them.

Good luck,

Mike...an 18 year VA panel appraiser.

I forgot to mention they do give preference points to veterans and minorities.

Actual application link, Rex?
