What's with the tenth of a foot...?

My sketch program calculates whether I set it for inches or tenths.
what sketcher do you use? Mine (older Apex and even older Winsketch) only used tenths... and I never did figure out how that DCSketch worked...

Met a homeowner the other day whose profession was to measure houses and produce floorplans using ANSI. When I told him the new ANSI measuring rules were being required now for appraisals, he rolled his eyes, let out a little scream, and said that ANSI is the source of his daily nightmares and aggravation. That made me feel so much more confident going forward...
NOT!

25.5 (tenths) x 50.5 =1,237.25 s/f using inches in a calculator 25.6 x 50.6 = 1,295.36. That is about 58 s/f difference
This would point to a need to learn to correctly use the equipment you are using, or to think properly, not that there is an issue with the equipment. Who would enter 25.6 for a measurement that was 25.5 feet? Every sketch program and Laser meter I have used has settings for the units you desire to use.

Im not trying to be a smart aleck, but why are they "easier"? Just trying to learn

Tenths are easier to deal with because our number system is base 10. The foot/inches system is base 12, which is really dumb. It's hard to describe, but here's an example. Which problem is easier to solve.

What's the area of a rectangle that's 5'4" x 16'11"
What's the area of a rectangle that's 5.3' x 16.9'

Every real estate agent that does not know how to use a calculator. I have no issues with my sketch program and have always used 10ths.

Glad you explained! I was starting to wonder about you! :)
