Where are Vacation Homes Located in the US?

Some cities offer parking area for RVs then later want them to leave.
SF has been more aggressively recently in enforcing their laws and giving RV owners parked on public streets to get out in September.
They're mainly located along this main street near the lake. Nice and quiet and safe.

My wife and I purchased a condo on Lake Chautauqua back in 2004. If I remember correctly, that was a significant year for baby boomers buying properties in the area. We rented it out for a few years and paid it off as soon as we could. It's been great for us in semi-retirement, and the expenses are low enough that it's not a burden. I used to enjoy heading up there for long weekends while I was still working full-time, taking the opportunity to write reports with a view of the lake. I often let good friends and clients use the condo as well. In the next 5 to 7 years, we’re likely to sell it and use the proceeds to travel. Overall, it has worked out well for us.

Vermont representing at 15.1%

For the population, we have a stupid amount of vacation homes

My operation is rural but fairly consistent. For some reason having a VERY busy July

How far are you from Killington and Stowe? Where is the nice to live part of Vermont?

Vermont is pretty expensive. Had no idea.

Depends what you consider nice. We used to live in and around Burlington and still own a rental there, but it's very troubled at the moment. Lived in the Jeffersonville area (Smugglers Notch) most of my life which is fairly close to Stowe (in summer when the notch is open). Currently working on moving to the woods east of Burke Mtn. Surrounded by wilderness but you get to shop in New Hampshire.

Most locals avoid Stowe, Killington and the rest of the tourist traps.

It really is. It's sorta "end of the road" in that there's very few shopping/service options and everything is cheaper a hundred miles south. Construction/Skilled labor is non-existent so if you can't do it yourself or don't know someone, you're SOL.

We've done very well investment wise, but taxes are out of control for retirees. Probably have to have residency elsewhere and just spend the summer and fall here. Haven't decided where we will settle tho
