Which tool belt?

Elliott,
I have one of the Sony DSC-W50 Cyber-shot camera's that will easily fit in a pocket for those shots when you don't want to carry the SLR. I usually take all my exterior pic's with the bigger camera and then put the Sony in my pocket and leave the larger one in the truck before doing the interior. I don't always take interior shots but if needed its right there. It is a 6 MegaPixel and takes great pictures. You can even get an Wide Angle Lens to fit it but I don't want something else to carry so I'm trying to avoid that.

I carry a small Kodak camera, fits in my shirt pocket; a Case Sodbuster model single blade knife 3 1/2 blade in my pants pocket; small high intensity flashlight about 4" long, clips to by pants belt loops; 100' steel roll tape; clip board with solar powered calculator attached and small storage area under the clip board top, got it at Staples for $15.00, in the storage area is a 6" ruler, triangle, paper clips with small magnets used to keep them together, extra pens. What else do you need?

In my truck I keep a small GI engtrenching tool if I need to check around foundation and a ladder if I need to climb anywhere.

You don't say if you are male or female so the next bit of clothing may not work for you. I ordered a a few years back some pull over polo shirts with pockets and had my company name embordered on them, I made sure the shirts had a pocket. Typically I carry my camera, pen and business card holder in the pocket.

I tried the belt idea, did not like it, kept pulling my pants down and did not look professional, looked more like a carpenter or other blue color worker.

If you are female, you may not be able to get shirts with pockets a fashion thing. But, if you check out any uniform store you can find pants and shorts with extra pockets that look good, cargo pant design works great.

I am one of those who does not like the disto, waste of money in my opinion only works where you have corners to bounce signal back from, otherwise you have to place a marker and then walk all the way back to the starting corner to take your measurement. With a tape attach it to one corner then measure the the next, shake it loose roll it up and do it again from that corner.

I wish I could travel with a "wench that would pull anything out of a ditch."

But people would talk!

Actually, I use an older polyester fabric tool pouch that I had when I began this crazy biz. It has 4 pockets which carry the FatMax, a 100' tape, double headed nails (to stick in ground if one cannot get right on the dwelling-small tape is plumb bob), a 30' tape, and the extra pocket for the camera. Actually, there are 2 more slots...one for the small flashlight, the other for the angle guage. Self-contained appraiser dude, and I don't care how geeky it looks!

That and a clipboard. Cell phone is in shirt pocket. Extra shoes, raincoat, hats and tapes are in the vehicle.

Fortunately, I don't have to have a .44 Magnum & carry permit where I work. At least not yet.

I have this mental image of some of you guys singing with the Village People ! Do any of you wear a hard hat ?

I used to date one of those kind....big stout girl.

Do any of you wear a hard hat ?
yep and have steel toed 'safety Lite' shoes and a hard hat hat rack to boot...not on residential construction however.
guys singing with the Village People
well....Goodpasture and I are part Indian.....just not Chief in my case.

I have the Mavica around my neck, the Fat Max in my pocket, the 100' tape and clipboard in my hands. The clipboard opens and holds things like an extra note pad, my amenity check list, business cards, extra pencils, etc. I leave the cell phone in the car. I try and pack a few band aids. I get a lot of scrapes and scratches. It is poor form to bleed on someone's carpet.

I use a linemans utility belt. the clips on tape measures holds strong to the fabric. I attach by 25, 50 and 100 foot tape, my Rolatape MM50. I attach the little pouch for my disto on the righ side and hang my camera off of the hammer holder. I then have a clip that holds my clipboard on my left side as well as a pencil holder around back that can also hold batteries and additional memory cards. I strap a 12' Extension ladder to my back with a 2' stepstool taped to the bottom of that ladder. I have a belly bag for my fold up rain coat...just in case. I have 2 sunglass holders, one for my red laser goggles and one for the sun. I have a pouch sewn into the pencil pouch to hold my sun tan lotion...it is Florida you know. It makes it difficult to get out of the car but hey I dont have to keep running back and forth.
