Why am I listed in Clearbox?

I think once the ASC has you, it is forever. he remains in the ASC database and in the Clearbox datebase as well

That's not a problem. Our licenses should be a matter of public record with the ASC. But why should just anyone be allowed to download our information for their personal use and profit?

If our info is public record, then anyone in the public can access it, including for profit operations. You can't be public and non-public at the same time.

Sure, if I am listed in the white and yellow pages as an appraiser, no telling what fortune teller is going to call me at any time of the day to ask for a forecast of the future. I have no choice in the matter to be public by ASC publishing my personal information.

Interesting. When I Google myself it's a no hit for Clearbox. However, there is a return for licensedirect . com which doesn't reflect my appraisal certification but does reflect my brokers license.

Unfortunately, licensedirect has incorrect information. It shows I am no longer a licensed RE broker but I am. I've always hated the Clearbox business model of creating a false emergency that anyone who doesn't register has something to hide. But now I'm ******ed that incorrect information about me is out there (license direct not clearbox).

It's one of those catch 22's. If I contact license direct to correct this I will then be feeding the monster with additional personal information. If I were active in the RE business I'd probably need to take legal action since anyone googling me would believe I was engaged in unlicensed activity.

Spent a few minutes on Licensedirect and they do have an opt out (are you listening Joan?).

Your address is prominently displayed in the ASC database. When you disappear from the ASC Registry you will disappear from Clearbox.

Begin with your state if you wish to display a different address. What you give them becomes public record.

I know that Joan, but when people search for my name, the ASC (and my home address) do not prominently pop up on page #1. They are discreet about it.
...what an absolute turn off. I'll CLEAR the BOX that asks for my credit card number...

We don't store it.

Facts like the following put a hole in the boat.

I don't know if AMC's are required to have their backgrounds given to appraisers everywhere, but lets apply the same scope to all parties in the process and put all of them on the ASC website. All the AMC individuals, silent owners and stock holders, employees, loan officers, secretaries, processors, board members of the banks, etc.,etc.

And, let's see if that improves appraisal quality any more than the current management.

Management and ethics..........?

Oh, yeah, and regulators too. Let's don't leave them out or anybody in the whole freaking process.

All on the ASC website, including anybody like alamode, FNC, clearbox, FNMA, FHLMC, etc.etc. And all their owners, stockholders, employees or independent contractors. Everybody from top to bottom.

This is actually a fantastic idea.
It would be extremely interesting to see which industries have more criminals, scoundrels, and undesirables.

Ok, I went a little over the top, but.....

My guess is they'll reflect society as a whole, just as the appraisal profession does.

But the problem with looking for child molesters behind every 1004 report is that when none are found fingers get pointed at every innocuous offense in an effort to justify the witch hunt. Read the following article and ask yourself if any of what happened to that guy was reasonable or justified?

http://news.yahoo.com/security-guar...ying-a-gun-says-firing--unjust-143736571.html

And don't kid yourself, the appraisal profession will have many more drunk drivers being drug through the mud and "clearboxed" than true criminals some claim are common in our ranks.
