Why Blurring Of People In Photos When Sex, Religion, And Race Are Not Appraisal Factors

Rather than blur the plus sign, why not add a minus sign on the other wall? Aren't math geeks a protected class?

To the threadstarter who seems to be a trainee, knowing about ECOA* could be an answer on your cert test if the test has fair lending questions. The act dates to 1974, so it is good to know about and may even be an easy point on a test. (Most test takers who fail do so by very little.) Also, it helps to be able to quickly say why you are asking adults to get their kids out of the way. Especially some kids, who see a camera and mug for it.

*Equal Credit Opportunity Act

IT WOULD BE TRULY EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ... IF people are allowed in the photos as proof that all ethnicity, sex and religion are acceptable.

I see your point and I don't disagree. But what do you get for going the speed limit? What do you get for speeding? At least they fear consequences for discriminating.

As for these contortions NOT being "appraisal factors"--there is the mission and then there is the job. I have described appraisal as being asked to ride a unicycle with people trying to push you from one side and another (just fulfilling our mission of being impartial, objective, independent). Some clients add layers of instructions to our mission, and so we are asked to spin plates while riding the unicycle. That is the job.

I always tell the drug dealers what I am doing. but first i have to say "I'm Good" then i explain and they always are cool about it. They step back out of the line of view and when i am done(5 seconds) they step back out doing there regular business. Its called Respect. FTR, none of them have ever offered a free sample. :-(
