Wisconsin?

Sorry, I kinda said it earlier. How about a Wisconsin Conference of AF members?

It's funny...It seems there is always one person looking at this. Who are you?????

I think this is a great idea and very badly needed in Wisconsin!

Where are all you WI appraisers???

It's like trying to band a bunch of roses together. Their stems are full of thorns and the lot has a great deal of beauty to show. We also have a lot of hidden strength that if was combined could do some good. Oh well just my stupid opinion.

Where are you Sconis??? Comon' this is the time to be heard!!!

I know there are people from WI looking here and they should say something, do something......Where are you people???? Are you that adversarial that you do not want to improve the profession?????

Kerry - since you keep asking every few days -

I think it is great that you wish to get together with WI appraisers from this forum. If you all set something up and it works for me, I will try to make it. However, for a couple of different reasons, I haven't said much about this. Not that my absence would be a particularly big loss.:new_smile-l:

First and foremost, I have a ridiculously busy summer lined up (mostly not of my making). We have multiple sets of friends and family coming in from out of the country over the next two months, along with my brother's wedding (finally). Combining that with work being busy, I am quite likely not going to make whatever you set up. I recently missed a different gathering because things are just too busy at the moment.

I do like meeting folks from the forum. I've enjoyed meeting Ray on a few occasions, as well as meeting Dave a couple of years ago. I just don't see it working out this summer. Every 2-3 years I have a summer like this, based in part on the fact that my wife is a teacher, so everyone schedules us during that time. Of course, my job doesn't change in the summer, which makes it busy. :Eyecrazy:

The second is that I'm just not sure about the improving the profession angle you keep mentioning. I'm not understanding what it is that we are going to do beyond a social engagement (which I'm for at some point, just not at the moment).

I realize that you and Ray have had troubles with the board. Neither case has seemed fair to me, though I'm more familiar with Ray's, as I haven't seen the details of yours. Your two cases have made it clear to me that I need to keep them in mind when doing my work, though that probably should have been the case for me anyway.

The third is that at this time, and this is why I've hesitated to post before, it seems to me like your desire to get folks together has a personal edge to it. I don't recall you making an effort to get folks together to do something until you had your run-in with the board. Now that you have had your trouble, as unfair as it may be, you are looking for everyone to mobilize.

It seems to me that the best thing for folks to do who are fed-up with what is going on in the department, is to get involved at that end or within an existing organization. I would think this is one of the main benefits to joining the AI or ASFMRA or a different group. Those groups have a reasonably large voice and perhaps hold more sway than an Appraisers Forum group.

Hey Stone,

Thanks for the input. I think much could be accomplished through the internet and phone. I don't think it is necessary to book some sort of convention center or anything like that. I am an affiliate member of AI (didn't help much) and I understand that many members of the board are AI members. This is evident because AI classes are all they will allow in the case of a reprimand etc...

Hopefully you will not have to face the situations that Ray and I have had to deal with. But at the rate they are going, I see many people being beat up and ruined in the process.

Yes, it does take personal harm for some people to jump into action (most appraisers don't know this is happening). Otherwise I would be happily going along with my life not knowing the sick abuse of power going on at the state. The fact that I personally suffered under these people makes it all the more important that I try to do something to prevent it from happening to other innocent people.

Kerry,

You could file a complaint with the Ethics Board like I am doing down at Madison. Might get thier attention also.
