Maybe I'm mistaken but I could have sworn this week the number was around 104,700 - 104,800. This morning I go and check and see an increase of 2000 appraisers. So now I'm wondering, was there a substantial state and/or ASC error resulting in appraisers which should have been on the ASC registry not showing up (it happended to me for about a year before I found out about it).

Anyone know the story or am I mistaken about my numbers? Kind of hard to imagine a couple of thousand people deciding to get into this business this week unless someone has found a way to outsource and still be state licensed.

I imagine that a lot of trainees are becoming certified and that is the jump that you are seeing. I know this is happening here in Fl.

I imagine that its some of the states reporting renewal information. Missouri's renewal cycle ends 06/30/2012.

I wondered about the count also. In addition to the "increase" the ASB listed over 90 appraisers who were suspended or had their license/certification expire "TODAY". Most of the suspensions were from Georgia.

It really would be nice if we could get a correct count as of a particular day. They could use the social security numbers of all appraisers and give us an official count say as of July 1, 2012. Heck some appraisers are being counted five times or more! I still say the total number of active appraisers are less than 80,000.:new_all_coholic:

Wait a minute..... I just noticed that some of those suspensions are several years old. Why in the world would they lump them all together and post them today?:Eyecrazy:

Maybe they are using the unemployment numbers matrix?

Doesn't the AMC now have to be registered with ASC?

I heard CT's license total dropped 10% after the 04/30/2012 renewal date.

No. Not yet.

Look under the Dodd-Frank section at the ASC page

Some major screw up has happened. There is no way the numbers are growing like that....and I keep a close eye ion it.

This is what should be done.

1)

The ASC "Active Appraiser Credentials " list name needs to be changed
to "Current Appraisal Credentials" list. The word ACTIVE is misleading and confusing. Having a CURRENT license credential and being an ACTIVE appraiser are too very different things.

2)

The daily ASC emailed report should

a) Show the total current count for the day at the top of the page

b) Show by State, appraiser name and license # all ADDED appraisers

c) Show all disciplinary actions (as is now done)

d) Show all expired credentials for the day

e) Show the NEW TOTAL COUNT for the day.....after all the adjustments

Then do it again every day.

Random days I wrote down the count.

03/03/2010 114,640

11/01/2010 111,144

02/16/2011 109,122

07/10/2011 108,089

01/03/2012 105,478

03/29/2012 105,157

The count had dropped below 105,000 on several different occasions.
