Wondering what is the cost of lead paint abatement?

referring to FHA and lead paint abatement, i like how it mentions not using torches lol idk just always found this silly. there must have been a time gone-by that this was common
Using a heat gun is (probably) the most efficient way to remove lead-based paint: it doesn't produce dust, it doesn't involve caustic chemicals (with their own set of environmenatal, handling and safety issues) and it's a lot cheaper than replacing whatever part of the house suffers from the lead paint affliction. Heat makes the paint soften, makling it easy to remove with a scraper. Not to dismiss the dangers of lead poisoning, there's probably more risk from lead in the supply plumbing of old houses than there would be in the properly managed removal of defective lead-based paint.

in big old cities lead is everywhere. lead in the paint & original hardwood floors (how many of you know about hardwood floors). in my mother in law's neighborhood there was a paint manufacturer that was demolished. everyone in the neighborhood nearby either got new carpets, or their yard ground replaced. a lot of good that did with that factory being there 100 years prior. do you all realize that leaded gas has lead in the exhaust. don't ever buy vegetables grown near any road. probable, most city gardens have lead in the soil.

recently, every painter has to get lead removal certified. if you have a painting bill, you need to have the cert for FHA. however, an owner can remove all the lead paint themselves, FHA don't care. notice over the years that every FHA REO has it's older wood windows replaced by HUD.

i truly find it disturbing, that apparently, only child in the ghetto eat paint chips. and it's whose fault?

Yeah the paint chips chewing is just finger-pointing, a way of implying tenant fault and neglect. It is not even very logical. The problem is dust.
Here you can remove all the lead paint areas in your own house but not a multi that you own.
