So it seems the pay is average at best for a little while when starting out...Is it all worth it knowing in a couple years, you can go into business for yourself? Don't know if many companies, fortune 500 or otherwise, will offer that type of career path!

Check with CA division of licensing services - ascertain whether or not a trainee is restricted to having only ONE Supervisory Appraiser during the 2 yrs - or does the state permit multiple Supervisory Appraisers.

only ONE

I will bet the changes wending their way through TAF will allow AMCs to train classrooms of appraisers at a time. I believe its already been decided, they just have to go through the motions.

BJM - I just got my residential license in California. You definitely can have more than 1 supervisor, the supervisors themselves can not have more than 3 trainees. When I had any questions about things like that, the process in general or even for information about appraising how-to, I called BREA and everyone there was more than helpful in answering my many many questions. I'm sure you know this, but just as a reminder sure your name, license # and an explanation your significant contribution to the report is on the report. Good luck!

I had a guy offering to be a trainee fro free.

10 years after certification until the real money starts coming in.

This sounds very realistic, at least it was for me....
