Will they be telling the candidates the truth in this workshop? The inconvenient truth that for mortgage lending, AMCs are gatekeepers to a large portion of it and keep s chunk of an already modest appraisal fee, leaving appraisers with peanuts for a start.

Though in a coded corporate speak the truth leaked out- the "unique benefits of pursuing a career - flexible work hours ( the work is too sporadic to provide a sustainable income ) , the GSE's policies have eliminated a substantial portion of volume away from appraisers- (by cutting them out of the valuation pipeline- cutting-edge technologies)

the unique benefits of pursuing a career in the appraisal profession (ranging from flexible work hours to opportunities to use cutting-edge technologies).

Appraisal Diversity Team

The Appraisal Diversity Team (ADI) is a nationwide program aimed at attracting new entrants to the real estate appraisal field while fostering diversity in the profession. Launched in 2018, ADI is a collaborative effort between Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the National Urban League, and the Appraisal Institute. The program’s primary goal is to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in the appraisal profession, addressing the lack of representation and bias in the industry.

Key Components

  1. Scholarships: ADI offers scholarships to aspiring appraisers, providing financial assistance for initial trainee education, books, calculators, paid conference events, and more.
  2. Workshops and Events: ADI hosts “How to Become a Real Estate Appraiser” workshops throughout the US and virtually, covering topics such as career paths, flexible hours, and scholarship opportunities.
  3. Mentorship: Advisor sponsors, volunteers with a background in real estate appraisal, provide one-on-one guidance and support to scholarship winners.
  4. Supervisor Sponsors: State-certified real estate appraisers commit to working with appraiser trainees as they gain experience hours required for certification.
  5. Industry Partnerships: ADI relies on sponsorships from organizations like JPMorgan Chase and Flagstar Bank, which provide financial support and resources for the program.
Benefits

  1. Increased Diversity: ADI aims to attract diverse, talented candidates and educate them about the appraisal profession, promoting a more inclusive industry.
  2. Improved Representation: By increasing diversity, ADI addresses the current lack of representation and bias in the appraisal profession.
  3. Enhanced Career Opportunities: Scholarship winners gain access to quality education, mentorship, and job opportunities, setting them up for success in their appraisal careers.
  4. Better Outcomes: By promoting diversity and inclusion, ADI helps ensure fair and accurate valuations, benefiting homeowners and communities.

Unless there is some special jobs magically created for them, they will be just another vendor having to submit bids to snag a few low-paying orders from an AMC since the lenders that order direct already have a panel or maybe teh sharnsk circling the waters will find a way to smash that remaining viable segment of work -
