We’ve had a strong naval presence in the strait for decades. Even during peaceful times it’s one mine or torpedo boat from conflict. Complete control is practically impossible IMO.

Did you catch Rubio saying that Israel controlled the timing of the move on Iran, since they informed the U.S. they were going to attack whether we were going to or not. And then we had to join in since Iran would invariably retaliate against us in the event of an Israeli attack. I've wondered why we haven't taken out more of their navy, especially mine laying vessels, subs and attack boats. Maybe we already sent them a message that if they want a navy after the war is over, they will have to remain in port until that time. There may be a lot of back channel communicating that we will never hear about.
