I am currently subscribing to Ordinance.com and it is time to renew. I was wondering if there is a less costly alternative.

What is everyone using?

Paper zoning maps from the city/town.

Zoning

Frederick,

Not every town has a website, but many do. In northern NJ, many have their entire town ordinance book on the website. You would have to "search" for the area you want, as the ordinances cover everything from speed limits to property maintenance to when to put your garbage out. But in there you will also find much of the zoning info you need.

Once you find the section you need, you could always print it out for your files to refer to without going on the website.

What areas are you interested in ??

Burlington, Camden, Gloucetser, Salem and Cumberland counties primarily. I typically cut and paste the definition of the specific zoning right into my appraisals.

I have a collection of paper maps but I do not want to get caught unaware of recent changes and searching out individual websites is a bit unwieldy.

I agree with Pat L. I always check generalcode.com 1st. If it's not on there I google the township/municipality next. Last option is the phone call to zoning. Over the years I have built a spreadsheet with web addresses, phone/fax #s, zoning contacts so that I have a good idea where to go for the zoning info.
