Does anyone know how much is the cost to repair a hole with the size of a golf ball on the drywall? Do they have to replace the board and paint it over or they can patch it up?

It all depends .... What is the intended use, intended user, intendended purpose?

It will be interesting to see what the different ideas are of a cost to repair a small hole that you mentioned. There are many veriables that could fluctuate a cost like that. In my market, I would say that cost to cure should not exceed $200. Hopefully the homeowner has some left over paint. That cost seems high to me, but that is what I was quoted from a local company. The materials list for a hole that size would be a screen patch, spackle, paint and the tools. The cost for the materials would be less than $15 here. but it could take a while for the spackle to dry and sand smooth, and perhaps a second coat of paint may bein order to feather the paint in.

$50 would be the high end around here for that type of repair. I can fix it in less than 10 minutes with scrap materials that any contractor would have on hand. Minus the touch up paint of course. Start to finish by a contractor shouldn't be more than $100 in just about any market. You don't have to replace the whole panel, a patch will do and if done correctly can not be seen.

I paid $85 two weeks ago for a similar sized hole. Included painting the entire ceiling. (I bought the qt. of paint.) I had a leak in my bathroom which damaged the bathroom ceiling of my neighbor below me.

Moh,

Were you practicing your swing inside the house again?

There are many methods to repair a small hole in drywall. None of them are expensive (hard to spend $100 on materials). The main variable is the finish on the wall. How old is the finish? Is it flat or textured? Is the paint solid or various colors? Are the colors custom or standard? Based on the quality and condition of the house, how good a repair is "good enough"?

I usually say, less than $100. Those pictures look very strange at door knob level.
