I don't normally put my picture on the internet, but here's my REO outfit. Below I have cargo shorts and birkenstocks with white socks.

The ladies really dig me.

What part of the state are you in? We're steady/busy around here...at least on the VA and FHA side. Conventionals are dead here, and will be until the comp checkers are run out of town.

Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. Everything I've done in the past month is FHA.

Seriously, I always dress neat and professionally...a byproduct of my days in a corporate environment. I find I am treated with more respect when dressed appropriately.

I believe you are correct on this point. I have noticed that when I wear shorts and crocs on an REO job, the rats don't bother hiding. On the other hand, when I wear long pants and shoes....

All my truck have Auction, Appraisal, Real Estate on them so someone could assume it is an appraiser who was there.

I because we are rural we wear jeans, nice shirt, boots. If I want to get fancy I wear a tie at all my auctions and wide brim hat, some times I will slip on a sport coat.

Well, she turned out to be a 2 bagger and it was still light out. She did comment on my flip flop. She didn't say anything about my shoes, but I think she liked my T shirt I have been wearing a lapel flag pin positioned so it looks like its on the Rocky's chest. If nothing else, I'm patriotic dammit.

For the first time in my entire career, I wore shorts the other day on an inspection. AND a shirt. Of course, I had long pants on over my shorts. ( I usually wear briefs. But, I hadn't done my laundry for two weeks and all my briefs were in the dirty clothes hamper.)

I have no answer for the short time inside and lack of measuring. Maybe he had previously done a full inspection but forgot to make a note of something he needed in order to complete the report, Or forgot to take interior photos.

I'm usually met by someone from the bank who has the keys to let me in. LOL but point taken.

These threads crack me up...I wear different clothes depending on the inspection, and the location. Commercial appraisal and high end residential suit and tie, residential single family when someone is going to be there business casual, REO I wear what I can throw away. Jeans tucked into my socks (fleas and cockroaches), Glock 30 in my waistband (vagrants and roaming packs of dogs), and a shirt that preferably has a collar going to my neck (fleas again).

Unless you inspect every part of this country and inspect every type of property for every type of user...you might want to keep your opinions to yourself about what is appropriate attire. Unless we might want to rename the Forum to the Fashion Police Forum (that coincidentally has a lot of appraisers on it.)
