If you are still there. At least one of our board members of our coalition is planning on attending and was told there would be a meeting of the state coalitions. Our coalitions work very hard for appraisers. Is this still true?

I attended several years ago and enjoyed it. OK, I do minimal AMC work, I am old, grumpy, do not do reduced fees and am not considering making relationships with people who will not pay my fee. The one I attended had representatives from HUD, VA, numerous software providers, mapping people, etc. I enjoyed it and am currently looking at going again. It is good CE, it is informative. If I do not go it will be simply economic, can I be out of the office that long and miss out on that business.

Thanks for coming to the rescue. Yes, we have set aside some time at lunch for Coalitions to speak. We have not gotten a lot of response from Coalitions though. We need to send out another communication though.

Greg Stephens is a personal friend. You would never meet anyone more honest or dedidicated to the profession. He is a true leader. There are always good people who are not a part of a corporate culture. My sister worked at B of A. There was a period of time she loved it and then she couldnt wait to head for the exit. Management changes and things can shift quickly.

The Expo has been around for a number of years and has in fact been held more than once in a single year. Joan has noted attendance to be in the hundreds at each event. This forum has a membership in excess of 10,000.

This information suggests that the Expo has been sufficiently exposed to the market. Twelve pages of comments regarding the Expo provides ample evidence of market reaction to it. If I recall correctly we have three sales (Sawyer, Ames, NC). We also have a many of showings with lots of feedback which I would define as people who looked at the advertising, agenda and thought about it enough to express an opinion here. They did more than merely pass by the advertising. They "viewed the property" by closely looking at the agenda and developing a "buy<> no buy" decision.

Analyze, reconcile and provide your own opinion of value.

I mean, seriously, it's an appraisal problem isn't it?

I am a dog lover. I support responsible breeders. I do not support puppy mills. Therefore, I would not go to an expo of puppy mill breeders, even if there were going to be reps from dog food companies and fun products for sale. The only way to make sense of going would be to protest.

AMC's are the puppy mill breeders of the industry. Their product, much like a puppy from a mill, looks good when first delivered. As the lawsuits and unhappy borrowers are starting to show, the product does not hold up well. Same as the puppies from puppy mills, they look cute in the store, like a normal puppy, only later when one has them do the problems develop...the two people I knew who bought pups from pet stores that came from mills, both got sick, one had serious med problems that cost the owner $4000.

Greg Stephans might be a great guy in private, but he is running a puppy mill. Who people choose to affiliate themselves with matters.

And every major lender in the country will be there. if you can't figure out how to make 1000 fold the cost of attendance you have a social disorder. Seriously... This is low hanging fruit. The lenders and AMCs recognize that serious professions show up for conferences. They want to do business with you.

The best thing about our format is you have a new speaker every 45 minutes. So if one bombs, and there are always one or two, you don't suffer too long. Fun trade show.

And yes, Clearbox... We will be serving koolaid at our booth

The 2 times you attended, were any of those in the years of 2009 & 2010 that would have been after that infamous date of May 1, 2009 when HVCC became effective and the AMC came into play?

I am not going. I would rather hire an assistant to help with marketing efforts. I would seek GOOD clients that pay CUSTOMARY AND REASONABLE FEES, and seek QUALITY work.

I HATE the AMCs, loath Joan and her efforts to destroy the integrity and independence of appraisers.

However it’s Vegas, my banks picking up the tab, I’ll be on company time and getting daily expenses covered. And did I mention its VEGAS, so of course I am going! :new_all_coholic:
