Let us know how it goes Lackland!

The 2 times you attended, were any of those in the years of 2009 & 2010 that would have been after that infamous date of May 1, 2009 when HVCC became effective and the AMC came into play?

2003/2004 But the AMCs were present at both of those expos.

Read the current list of sponors & exhibitors! Please ask yourself, is there really anybody there on this list you want to do business with?

TC, is this the same group that was there in 2003 & 2004 when you were there? AMC's were something else back in that era. Most of the AMC's today are the same when I was there in 2009! Yes, I went to the 2009 expo with the same thoughts that the OP had, ...a way of making new clients...good marketing plan. Well, forget it Charlie! None of these sponors/ exhibitors pay C & R rates and save yourself a lot of expense and time.

While we are on this subject of money, Joan is a smart gal! I posted in an earlier thread that when I was there in 2009, a survey was conducted and the number of approx. 67+/- (fee) appraisers was posted on the screen during the forum by one of the speakers. This number did not include appraisers that were associated with the various AMC or lenders (Joan disbutes this number) Now I am going to ask you a very simple question. Who does Joan favor? And maybe you might hear a sucking wind sound when you answer this question. The appraiser that pays $600+/- for the registration fee or maybe one of the platium sponors that pay $25,000(there are 3), or one of her $10,000 gold sponors (there are also 3), or maybe one of her $7,500 silver sponors (there is only 1), Naw, then maybe its one of her $5,000 bronze sponors (which there are 9)

Check out her list of sponors & exhibitors and smell the coffee! (I hope you do not have to pay $5.00/cup like Joan quoted)

I went to the Expo without any thought to acquiring new biz. I took 14 hours of CE, sat in on 2 workshops(ACI and Apex), talked with the Disto guy, looked at all the software vendors, spent time at the pool. It was more like a vacation. McKissock was the CE vendor and even offered the PA State Law 2 hour class to some people in Florida that had dual licenses, so I was able to take that as well.

I had a good time, course, '03 and '04 were two of the best years I ever had.

Received an email about the expo and came on here to look and see how the forum felt about it, who was attending....you know, which frequent posters were going. All I can say is WOW. That Joan Tice lady walked into the octagon and got body slammed and just b***h slapped all over the place! Jiminey Crickets!

Is there an "Independent Appraisers" booth?? Where they can hand out flyers on how AMC's treat them....fees, turnaround times, flyer of the top 50 stips, when invoices are really paid? That would be a cool booth to go to.

Love or hate her, she's got stones for coming in here unlike the rest of them. Still doesn't change my opinion, I'm just sayin'-

I am not going. I would rather hire an assistant to help with marketing efforts. I would seek GOOD clients that pay CUSTOMARY AND REASONABLE FEES, and seek QUALITY work.

I have one booth left. I am hoping I can sell it to a lender who desires to directly engage appraisers. That would be great. I will know by next week. That would be nirvana... Lender who pays customary and reasonable and is direct engagement.

There you have it. Out of all the vendors, there is a slight possibility that one possible client will be worthwhile.

It's like attending a function for the sole purpose of possibly winning a door prize.
