"
  • There is a shortage of appraisers because of the current AQB requirements
  • There is no shortage of appraisers – it’s a matter of economics"
I think the 2nd is true.

Or, 3rd...

There is a shortage of appraisers who will work for AMC peanuts and subject themselves to endless stips.

Which is the elephant in the room that is NEVER ever, acknowledged, or uttered by those empowered to make the changes or or those advocating in favor of the changes.

Poor rule writers change rules often to fit the agenda.

They are working for public trust. That is why they are trying to lower qualifiers. hahahahahaha. They need to get away from 15th Street.

43% of respondents did not address Section 1 (Licensed Residential and Certified Residential College-Level Education Requirements) of the draft. Of those that did respond, 58% were opposed to the proposals.
  • 53% of respondents did not address Section 2 (Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal). Of those who responded, 55% were opposed to the proposals.
  • 65% of respondents did not address Section 3 (Experience Requirements), and of those that did, 58% were opposed to the proposals.
Typical, most appraisers don't care about anything beyond their own front door. But the biggie is Section 3 (Experience Requirements), that's the real prize. When adopted it will pave a path for AMCs to train new appraisers and staff up as needed. Game over for appraisers who depend on mortgage origination work.

WINNER!!!!

The arguments for fewer requirements are coming from AMCs and few others. Meanwhile many appraisers are doing everything they can to get away from AMC work. Appraisers are looking for Mercury Network, Appraisalport, local lender, private work, legal work, any work that does not involve an AMC. Meanwhile AMCs are looking to hire staff appraisers who can put in canned statements that explain everything and get it done for $150.

I see the future as being very bright. Review work might be a very lucrative retirement when the idiot trained by ABC AMC screws up a deal and costs someone real money.

You can’t make a career out of working for temporary employment agencies.

Next crash = end of the AMC model and many of their “employees”.
