What do you think about purchasing this AMC Directory for 2018, It promotes that there are some of the top 10 AMCs, and over 300 AMCs, with direct contact information correct, website, etc? Or am I better off surfing the net to gather information ? Thanks in advance for your response .
I would start by looking on your state board website to see if they are approved in your state. My state has a list that is 6 or 7 pages long. I would be very hesitant to do business with any AMC or lender that is not on the approval list. Your state board may even list any complaints against the company. What I did after I found my list was came on here to research each and every company for any reviews of the companies. You will find some good reviews, some bad or maybe not very much info. What you have to understand about doing your own research is that most [IMHO] reviews are going to be bad because everyone is quick to complain when a company does something they don't like. You may find very little good reviews about an AMC because not many people go out of there way to praise a company on how good they pay, 2-3 week due dates, no stips, friendly relations, etc.
Ultimately you will have to decide if you want to work with that company or not. I say sign up with them if there are mixed or even no reviews. Terms are always negotiable. Try one and go from there.
