Why do we worry about it? Well, an appraiser who is "borrowing" someone else's MLS credentials (1) has lied on their application to be on our panel, and (2) is committing theft of intellectual property. Is that the kind of person you want to hire to do appraisals? Perhaps these are not big issues for some.

That is a "big issue" and I don't believe anyone here (unless they are MLS violators) would disagree with you....
But I believe you already know that's the case....

I'm just curious if SL believes it's a "big enough issue" to report the violators to their respective MLS service....

Who believes that large appraisal firms or AMC's pay for an individual MLS license for each and every user?

And I am curious if you are just so intent on posting some snarky comeback to my posts that you don't actually read them. If you had actually read post 5, you would know the answer. Or, just apply to our panel using someone else's MLS screenshot and see what happens.
:peace:

Lets get back to the OP. Yes, appraisers using others credentials is wrong and should pay the price. One of my MLSs charges like $1000 for the first offense which then escalates quickly, very quickly.

What Corelogic is being accused of is in a whole different arena.

It's because I read (and have now reread) your post #5 that I'm curious if you report the violators....

"We will concurrently contact the MLS to verify."

Is this the sentence that should have answered my question?
It's the sentence that piqued my curiosity....:)

If it's the case that SL reports the violators to MLS....
All you had to do was type "yes"....

Often large AMC's or lenders don't report violators because that's what legal council recommends and often these issues are suspect but not necessary based on facts. It's possible the appraiser was using his Realtor friends MLS access or an-Appraiser friends MLS with permission. NOW that may be a MLS violation because the Realtor or Appraiser is giving his buddy a free ride but nobody ever admits it they simply say wow someone must have hijacked my login info.

Your pal Evenotsincere is certainly enjoying your anti-SL snark show.

Exactly....

What's the AMC to gain by reporting the violators....
But maybe SL does report the violators....

And that is what I find so ironic....
Not with E....

But with those who enjoy DW's responses back....
Of all of the folks pushing back on some of DW's posts....
And of all of the folks who "like" and agree with DW's posts....
I'm probably the only one who would consider working with SL....
Because I'm not an AMC basher....
While the DW "likers" refuse to work with AMCs, at least that's what they share....
And why is that?
Because they know that they don't truly set their fees....;)
Nor to they wish to adhere to AMC guidelines....

Isn't that a hoot and a holler!!!!

Again, I pay my dues as I think all should. That said, I think its sad that when individuals get 'caught', there are sanctions, fines, possibly reports to the state appraisal board. Its the appraiser against the world, as it so often seems to play out.

When the CL's of the world get 'caught', its nothing more than, 'Bad doggy--don't do it again or we'll be forced to give you another warning.' If there is a fee they have to ask if the court has change for their pocket lint.

And this for theft several orders of magnitude higher than any single appraiser would ever accomplish.
