What is your deal with Wiley?

Like a nosy neighbor asking me why I'm taking a photo....
I'm not required to answer.... :peace:

As I've said in the past....
When an AF member writes something that I find curious/appears inconsistent/or contradictory to other posts that s/he shares....
I ask a follow-up question....

Post are voluntary....
Just like your post to me....
And my response to you....

It's all voluntary baby....:)

Your posts to or about Wiley or S/L have a snarky tint to them.
He's just trying to catch me posting something inaccurate or inconsistent. :) No worries on my end. It is funny how some can post something totally wrong/inaccurate, and no one cares - but others are subjected to a different standard. It is just the way of social media, not just AF.

The sins of a few appraisers have tarnished the image of the many. The sins of the many AMCs have tarnished the image of the very, very few, if any.

Love is a battlefield

That's my point with some of the things you post....

You voluntarily offer the information....
And I just follow up on the information....

Again, I'm curious if SL informs the MLS that a member is sharing his/her credentials?
You brought up SL in this thread....

It seems like if the MLS's themselves were that concerned about theft or sharing of resources, they could easily determine these things on their own--I know my main one does, which I am glad for, because I pay my $1100 per year and think it just about fair that every other appraiser does as well. It is incredibly easy for these systems to log the IP or even MAC addresses of the computers accessing their system, and if something weird seems to be happening, following up with that user. All that could be automated as well.

If an MLS doesn't particularly care about these types of issues, I'm a little curious why an AMC would, with all the other issues they could be worrying about? Especially given the fact that many MLS's are owned by Corelogic, who I would think SL/FNF would consider a competitor. In a way, aren't you directly assisting your own competition?

Why do we worry about it? Well, an appraiser who is "borrowing" someone else's MLS credentials (1) has lied on their application to be on our panel, and (2) is committing theft of intellectual property. Is that the kind of person you want to hire to do appraisals? Perhaps these are not big issues for some.

Theft of MLS data is more common in appraisal land than most people realize.

After my first heart attack my MLS contacted me about someone possibly using my account and made me change my password. I know the lady at the office well and called her to ask why they thought that. The system said the way I logged in was different and was a sign of MLS sharing. She knew my situation and said they weren't concerned but the system threw up the red flag.
