Sad but trueIt what us science/engineering grads do for fun

Inward and outward effectiveness of cloth masks, a surgical mask, and a face shield | medRxiv. This study from November has not yet been peer reviewed but it is pretty thorough. As for masks making things worse, which you stated earlier, only using used disposable masks make things worse.Key words matter in searches. I also have an associate's degree in computer science, so I have at least a conceptual understanding of the way search engines work.
I don't have the studies bookmarked. There's actually not that many of the them prior to the pandemic, as cloth and other masks were generally not effective and were not used in clinical settings. There are some more recent ones. To sum it up, they're useless against aerosolized viruses in every study, and there is some efficacy with regard to stopping virus carried by droplets. Terrell pretty much summed it up previously, noting that many studies are in clinical setting; i.e., standards that the general populace doesn't follow is completely unaware of. The other issue is that even at a 70% efficacy rate and proper use, it's still going to spread.
The first reference you cite is a controlled study using manikins. Although the data appears to show that the mask are effective under said conditions. People are not manikins and do not operate under controlled conditions. So it is logical to assume (they also make a number of assumptions in the study) that the efficacy of the mask will actually decrease significantly in real life conditions. Not saying they do not work. But efficacy in real life is very questionable due the myriad of variables present. The second so called "fact check" cited. Is fact checking a couple of idiots on facebook that took data and interpreted it their own way to get a desired result. See how easy that is. That is why it is difficult to take many of these studies at face valueInward and outward effectiveness of cloth masks, a surgical mask, and a face shield | medRxiv. Fact check: CDC study does not find that masks are ineffective (usatoday.com)
Wearing a used mask could be worse than no mask amid COVID-19: study (nypost.com)
In lieu of a real life study, a lab based study is all we have. The study acknowledges that. Real life examples can be found in comparing areas with wide spread mask wearing with comparable areas without wide spread mask wearing. You just get a broad overview with that. The fact check did take facebook posts and debunk them with data from CDC. I was wondering where the data came from that said that mask wearing makes the spreading of Covid worse. I can't find anything that agrees with that David Wimpelberg's statement "I've been reading studies on face masks for months. And that's why I don't wear them. The efficacy of the masks is such that there is a good chance that one will catch the virus wearing a face mask for months on end of being exposed to a viral environment." I can find quite the opposite, however. CDC study: Kansas counties with mask order saw COVID-19 drop | The Kansas City StarThe first reference you cite is a controlled study using manikins. Just say no to Covidif the gov declares war on this virus , like they did on illegal drugs, it is going to be a long 21.
Kind of draconian, but this is a thing with other diseases if you intentional infect someone. Kind of reminds me of the forced quarantines from decades ago. Was it polio, or cholera, maybe measles, that required you to stay home? I do know that early to mid 20th century if you didn't take your full dose of TB antibiotics you were sequestered until you took them.If you live in the State of New York, you might want to get in line for the Covid Vaccine... Read it and be scared ...
They used the same data from the CDC that was in the article. Just interpreted their way. Kind of like crafting a question to get the answer that you want.I was wondering where the data came from that said that mask wearing makes the spreading of Covid worse
Ah, thank you. They used the same data from the CDC that was in the article. Just interpreted their way. Kind of like crafting a question to get the answer that you want.
