A thousand times this. Had a few homes sell out in the county and the new owners are raising a stink over the stink of cows. I'd laugh if it wasn't so frustrating.what purpose does jacking up property prices do for a permanent resident. It means the snowflakes built 10 miles out of town, then go to the county quorum court to complain about the smell of cattle or chickens, then sue the next door neighbor over a 2' discrepancy in the survey of 80 acres, or the farmer plowing and planting after dark, and then drive up property taxes because our state is very up to date of their market values. I'd be much happier with much lower property price. It's value to me is "in use"... not "market". And why don't you sell your house? Let me guess. Prop 13 or whatever it was called means if you move your property taxes will explode.
My house could go to 3X and I wouldn't want to move because this is where my life is. It would cause all sorts of problems, taxes, insurance, etc. Plus if your house goes 3X then your next hypothetical home does the same. If the gap was $100k now it's $300k and no longer possible. Exploding residential prices helps 1. investors and 2. people who use a home as a piggy bank.
