AQB's latest dumbing down by 'Stakeholders' Dropping the College Degree Requirement

Remember it was stated that TAF does not engage in lobbying; however, their IRS filings suggest otherwise. As I mentioned earlier, lobbying doesn't always involve monetary compensation. I can assure you that TAF has lobbied the state legislature in Florida.

Thanks! Someone actually read the Form 990. That is a difficult task for some.

Simply cutting and pasting random stuff you find on the internet is not a demonstration of research ability or skill.

Hints were dropped more than once: "You fill not find it on Schedule C"

Thanks for playing along!

TAF has lobbied in the past; that is a fact. And there is no reason to think they are currently not lobbying for their interest.

well, this explains a lot...
No changes to USPAP, no new revenue

MYTH: The Foundation receives direct federal funding through congressional appropriation.
FACT: At the time Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) was enacted into law, Congress was aware the Foundation was charging for Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and understood that publication revenue is a major source of income. The Appraisal Foundation uses this revenue to carry out its congressionally authorized duties given the Foundation does not have any congressional appropriation.

That’s why they keep changing pronouns every two years — to ensure a steady flow of money and to maintain their extravagant salaries and pension plans.

TAF's mission has faltered, as evidenced by its recent failures. One need only look at the last crash for proof. According to Fannie Mae, 95% of the appraisals they've received are flagged for overvaluation. Naturally, some on the forum will deflect responsibility by solely blaming the appraiser.

What could TAF have done within their purview to prevent the last crash. Serious question.

Advocating for appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications is part of their responsibility.

listened to the appraiser petition against lender/mortgage broker back in early 2000's when it was submitted -

The Appraiser Qualifications Board is responsible for establishing educational standards for appraisers. Instead of fixating on what appraisers should or shouldn't do, the Appraisal Foundation (TAF) should have focused since 2008 on developing educational programs that address modern technical challenges. It's concerning to encounter appraisers who struggle with basic tasks like market delineation, making market condition adjustments, exporting MLS data, or navigating spreadsheets — deficiencies that ultimately reflect on TAF's oversight.

Consider this: would a dentist graduate without knowing how to use a dental probe, or a doctor without proficiency in a stethoscope? Yet, TAF apologists argue they merely set minimal standards. Despite offers of assistance, TAF has consistently disregarded opportunities for improvement, a choice that now carries consequences.

Furthermore, TAF should have distanced itself from stakeholders who regularly encourage appraisers to compromise the ethics and standards TAF upholds. Ethics and standards are a two-way street, yet suggestions from various quarters over the years have fallen on deaf ears at TAF. They've had their chances it's over. Bert is right --Someone should sue TAF.
