Is anyone using LibreOffice on any consistent basis? I hadn't looked into it before, but needed to install it to view some old Wordstar documents of appraisals I completed in the early 1990s. Worked pretty slick and looks like it is advanced and well supported. I wouldn't mind reducing my Microsoft "exposure."

I'll second Mr. Roher's request. Does LibreOffice read or convert Microsoft office's Word docs, Excel files, PowerPoints? Does LibreOffice have an email suite like Outlook?

I've used MS Office all my life and I'm beat down.

Per their website: "LibreOffice is compatible with a wide range of document formats such as Microsoft® Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) and Publisher."

Here is a chart comparing LibreOffice to Microsoft Office.

Yes. It works well. WordPerfect also converts a number of formats, but LibreOffice probably does it better.

Why not just Google Docs or MS 365? Zoho also has a nice online suite.

Whether or not to break my WordPerfect habit is another decision to make. For a while, there was an add-in for Word (CrossEyes) that added a "reveal codes" function to Word, though much more cumbersome than WordPerfect. I haven't been able to wean myself from that function, plus almost 30 years of ag and commercial and special property reports are in WordPerfect format already.

I really dislike the cloud-based stuff. I want a local, on my computer, software.

This is the very reason I still have Office 2019. Because it's the last version where you load it onto your computer....it's not cloud-based and you don't pay an annual fee. I paid for it, it's mine.

And this is where appraising is going.....up in the cloud for all to see with the new UAD.

I've never heard of Zoho...I'll look into it.
