APPRAISAL INSTITUTE LAST-MINUTE SHAKEUP

In a decision that has drawn both attention and reflection, the Appraisal Institute’s Board of Directors voted to reject the nomination of Byron Miller, SRA, AI-RRS, as the organization’s 2026 Vice President—a role that would have placed him in-line to serve as President in 2028.

Mr. Miller, a highly respected leader in the valuation profession, was nominated by the Appraisal Institute’s National Nominating Committee and faced no challenge during the petition process.

His nomination was widely seen as a significant and unifying step forward for the organization.

Had he been elected, Mr. Miller would have made history as the first Black President of the Appraisal Institute since its formation in January 1991.

He would also have become the first Black individual to lead either of the Institute’s predecessor organizations since 1981, when William S. Harps, MAI, broke racial barriers by serving as President of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.

Mr. Miller is the only individual to have twice received the Appraisal Institute’s prestigious Y.T. and Louise Lee Lum Award, which honors exceptional volunteer service and leadership within the profession.

His record of dedication, integrity, and vision for the profession has been widely recognized by peers and colleagues.

The Board’s decision not to elect Mr. Miller, despite his unchallenged nomination and broad support, has raised serious questions about the organization's commitment to diversity, transparency, and the integrity of its leadership selection process.“

Hopefully, A.I. will share this at Tuesday’s 8/19/25 BOD meeting update, including who will be replacing Byron, and why, at the last minute.

I wonder how many more members they’d have right now had they not fired Cindy. Definitely hundreds. Possibly over a thousand?

Oh what might have been.

Oh what might have been.
They don’t care about numbers or residential members, and they definitely don’t care about the optics.

This is what happens when secret meetings and secret votes are SOP, no one is held accountable.

Per today's member meeting:

Long story short, they can't talk about it because they don't know how or why any particular board member voted. But we shouldn't assume he was unqualified.

The search for a CEO is stalled, there's a "desire" to examine the job description and title then float a 45 day notice to change them in the bylaws. And this takes the cake, "...when we know what we're looking for, then we will start a search to find that person." Oh boy.

I don't know hounddog. Maybe a dark cloud came up we are not aware of.

They lost my respect by not fighting for separation of fees when NAIFA was going broke fighting for separation of fees on truth in lending disclosures.

I understand why they didn't fight for separation of fees in back of my mind. They had high ranking members involved in appraisal management companies.

If they would have fought hard for separation of fees, it would have hurt some of their members.

Per the OP on LinkedIn:

"The A.I. corruption & conspiracy against Byron Miller is far worse than what I reported. Stay tuned."

Updated post making it's rounds on LinkedIn:

Byron Miller was wrongly ‘terminated’ from becoming the next Appraisal Institute’s VP due to internal Politics & false accusations from Anonymous sources, timed perfectly for last week’s sham vote.

There are no verified facts whatsoever supporting Byron being voted out by the A.I.’s Cabal. Not 1.

Anonymous complaints are considered Hearsay by courts, Hearsay is inadmissible in court proceedings if offered to prove the truth in the allegations contained in them.

Hearsay is not justification for the vote made to throw Byron out, and to replaced him with a board-favored candidate.

One accusation against Byron stemmed from report of criminal convictions for ‘Byron Miller’, which would of course be justification for the vote against Byron.

However, this is a case of mistaken identity. There are at least 3 individuals named Byron Miller who have criminal convictions. A.I.’s Byron just happens to share the same name. There are at least 4 Byron Millers, of which 3 were sentenced to prison for felonies.

It’s impossible to unring the bell.

Unfortunately, there are too many lies leading to the Defamation of Byron’s reputation.

Stay tuned. There’s more.

I would think it would be fairly easy to determine if it was the same Byron miller. Pretty easy to determine criminal records these days.

Maybe Byron was in the same jail Mej is in? :rof:
