How Appraisal Regulation Failed

I don't see the issue. The TAF does a great job. The profession has never been healthier or more respected. Thanks to anyone reading this that ever played a role there. Thank you for your contribution to the profession. I can't imagine where we would be without you.

If you're unhappy about something TAF has been doing then why don't you broach that topic directly so we can discuss it?

I'll start. I'm very unhappy with the PAREA program. IMO it's not a substitute for IRL experience and I think its adoption was a mistake. I think its more appropriate as an extension of the QE.

What has TAF been doing that you disagree with?

I see it similar to Trump and the top 1% vs the common person trying to pay bills. Appraisal institute knew the common residential appraiser was struggling a long time and Dr. Chance brought it to their attention and upset some people that were happy with the status quo. Trump is going to find out most Americans are not happy with status quo in November. I feel sorry for Dr. Chance for standing up for residential appraisers and getting fired.

I don't even want to guess how many residential appraisers the Appraisal Institute has lost as members. Same way Congress will be in November.

Thanks for your effort Dr. Chance. I like you.

Based on the available information provided. My best guess would be not being what they want it to be.
Most of their complaints seem to be that TAF doesn't advocate for the business interests of appraisers. That TAFs mission is different from the Appraisal Institute's mission, which is to advocate for their members.

Is it the TAF’s mission to advocate for AMC‘s? Maybe that’s just a big coincidence.

I can’t say I’m a big fan of every decision them making being against protecting the public trust. But other than that, I think they’re doing a great job.

Well, and USPAP a garbage piece of **** document. But other than those 2 things , they’re doing a great job.

And your point about parea. It’s a massive embarrassment to the profession., so just those three things. Everything else is great.

How about we cut through the nonsense, the profession is in shambles. Anyone involved in leadership over the last 20 years has been a massive failure.

Can you point to one thing that you think TAF has done to advocate for the AMCs? Or that has benefitted the AMCs in any way?

Use your words.
