SFREP and 3.6

I look over my reports 2 or 3 times before i send it in. I can't imagine the time it will take to mistake check 3.6. I think alamode has a button that can take you to that part of the report you are X checking box. Not sure, their webinar is 4 hours long.

I find it ironically entertaining that JGrant is answering to DW's objections with AI.

Especially since the industry shift to UAD 3.6 emphasizes machine-readable data and AI integration..... no matter which vendor one chooses.

A compounding factor is that UAD 3.6 looks less like modernization and more like a compliance expansion imposed on an already strained industry.

Bottom line is that the developers in conjunction with the stakeholders developed the UAD 3.6 for their needs....completely brushing aside not only the software development, but the very people who were to fill the dang thing out.

I did not say 3.6 has to be cloud-based. I said the drop-down format was cloud- or web-based - I am not a computer geek, so perhaps my terminology is off, but it does not function like a regular form, which is why Alamode, ACI, etc. are having so much trouble getting the functionality to work.

Then AI helped you correct that erroneous statement.

As for the software, the different vendors have taken different approaches. Some treat it just like filling out a big form. Some take an entirely different approach and the user experience is quite different between the two approaches. It is up to appraisers to decide which approach they personally prefer.

Many of the complaints posted about UAD 3.6 are really complaints about the software UI. But if one has not tried other software, it may not occur to them that is the issue.

The drop down thing has zero to do with web based, it's just a data structure (list of enums). And drop down is often a poor format for items under 8 or so, better to show a list of pills so appraiser can quickly tap the correct option without clicking into endless menus. We do something like this in Appraisal Inbox for our form for adding orders where there are two versions:

Saves a ton of clicks, this is how the 3.6 lists should be implemented imho.

The number of appraisers is dropping....for real. The number of AMCs is dropping. MORE software companies.....fewer customers. Makes perfect sense.

The first thing I read each morning is the ASC email notice and for the last 2 months it’s clear there more expirations than in previous years and it must be due to 3.6. I contacted a couple of guys I know that I haven’t seen in a few years to ask them about their plans for 3.6, software, etc. and they both told me they were not renewing their licenses.

I appreciate your input. I am not a computer techie, though AI says 3.6 can be cloud- or internet-based. I agree; whatever the format, the cascading drop-downs that open after one choice is checked, only to reveal a new menu of additional choices, are frustrating and time-consuming.

Have you tried filling out a UAD 3.6 form from any of the software providers?

The initial numbers I ran are about 55k appraisers in mid 2026. I plan on a more thorough look after my vacation.

Yup. Drop downs are double the number of clicks compared to check boxes or pills. And it's not only the extra click. You have to click, move the mouse and then click, and the moving the mouse part requires precision to select the correct item.
