My perception is due to social media the self-dealing and conflicts of interest are finally being exposed. Follow the money. My perception of TAF's position is that they're under pressure from the politicians to respond to the aging demographics of appraisers, the lack of diversity and the appraisers-r-racists themes. And that even if they want to decline to work on these themes they're in no position to "just say no"

Other appraisers are my peers... but they are also my competition. That side of it is business. I don't think that trying to advance the success of your business stabbing your peers.Taking trainees on in an oversupplied market is the equivalent of stabbing their peers in the chest. Face to face.
Especially when they're doing it for the money.
I have similar criticisms about the PAREA vendors. Everyone else can do what they do, but I won't spend one dime with an education provider that is also running a PAREA program. Not in an oversupplied market for appraisal services.
