Does anyone out there succesfully run two different, properly licensed applications of Wintotal in the same computer?
We have not gone back to ALM yet to get a truly knowledgable support geek on the phone while we attempt to load it again. Our first attempt to load the (2nd copy of) software from a download was not succesful as it appeared the new copy of Aurora was attempting to overwrite and/or mingle with the first copy that was already in the computer.
We do now have the installation CD.
Any advice or suggestions before I contact ALM would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you trying to run to copies on the same machine?

Its a bit involved, but.....my wife occasionally uses the initial copy of Aurora to do proofing and out-sourcing work for the appraiser she used to be the office manager for. The second copy is the one I just bought for "my" company.

Just a Thought.....so don't shoot me.

What if you added an external hard drive (through a USB port) for her version...since it would be on a different drive, it may leave the other copy alone..??

why don't you create 2 logins (screen names on alamode) for 2 different offices? If the other mentor has alamode he can click the convert competitors button and change your company's name to his.

I never tried to run 2 on one system....computer geek I am not...thats why I pay for the Plat level is the best for me 24/7 support....Hey hope the weather good in Brevard Co. I am heading South 16 hours to get there in a few weeks...former Palm Bay resident! I love it there---Are you hiring:)?

thanks for suggestions

To all above---thanks for the suggestions. I had thought about an external drive but did not tospend the $s as my desktop at home is fairly stout with 225 of orig 250 GB left along with pretty hefty RAM and speed. I assume the suggestion about dual boot would refer to segmenting the hard drive which is also something I'm looking into. I'm not real sure about the convert competitor buttonbut will have to look further into it. For "appraiseme" heading down to this area of Florida...I sent seperate reply to yor email.

Mike,

A dual boot system is the only way to get two separate operable wintotal systems.

multiple copies of wintotal

Again, thanks to all for your suggestions above, but I have just recieved an email response from an ALM rep which explains it all. I guess we can now consider this thread dead.
