In some places in this country, a person can build a house on his land with no permits whatsoever, and yet, somehow, they get loans, have value and manage to not burn. I suppose these areas of the country are not nearly progressive as they should be. NOT

One strap or two.

If you're talking about misbehaving, one strap will get the job done: It just takes longer. Save the $4 and have a couple of extra lashes...!

Someone gets it!

I got it when watching This Old House a long time ago when they had to get a permit to trim some trees on their own property. BS

And lets not forget the retired old coots who go back to work as building inspectors for many local municipalities. Like it's not a 'good old boys' club where a case of libations won't help someone look the other way.

How did this citizens of this country ever get by without these requirements for the bulk of the dwellings for its first 200 years? They must have all died horrible house related deaths...

Considering the average lifespan was 33 years in 1776 ........yup, many did.:icon_idea:. especially in attached, wood frame, tenement dwellings in urban cities.

The death statistics are heavily affected by infant mortality. Sorry, but I don't buy that big government is good government. Sorry!

Thank you all - especially for your help Mr. Kennedy. Here's my plan. I have already sent the client an email regarding the potential issues with this appraisal. We'll see what happens with that. I called back the city but of course they close at 4pm and don't open until tomorrow at 9 am (I want a govt. job!) I am going to investigate some of the "L" Limitation issues for companion units and see what I come up with. I'll let you all know what I find out and where this ends up so maybe it can help someone else in the future. I can't thank you all enough for your help. This job gets more frustrating everyday and you all are the only thing that keeps me going. God bless!

I want to raise horses in my 0.10 acre yard. I can pile the manure on the property line, next to my fighting chickens and 22 pit bulls. Oh, and I am going to put up a 250 foot cell tower for a little added income. I want to park 8 cars on my front lawn and rent the spare bedrooms out to 20 people.
