ACORN and the mortgage meltdown

Some these rants are comical. I’m no fan of Larry Ellison, but when confronted over why he doesn’t “Give back” his response, while lacking in compassion, is quite rational. He believes that reinvesting his wealth in the system benefits far more people that allowing the government to reinvest it, or allowing feel good charities to extract their tribute before helping those less fortunate. Maybe some of those in here who are overflowing with compassion should go assist Raoul & Fidel with their redistribution work; they are currently rationing food in their paradise of fairness, but they have no mortgage meltdown.

Maybe if some of them donated one of their yachts a few people could see a doctor!

Sandy NEWS FLASH .. when you register dead people, and you register 20 people at the same address when only two people live there .. its called FRAUD. Now if I remember right you are greatly against mortgage fraud ... so I take its ok to cheat at all costs, fraud included, if you are poor and want to achieve your goal by any means possible when it comes to votes?

When you systematically lend to people with terms that you know they cannot afford to pay for and then dump the whole mess on the taxpayers after you've charged millions---- it's worse than fraud. Throw in the gall to blame it on some 20 year old law whose intentions you purposefully twisted and distorted in order to make millions while destroying peoples' lives that's called the ultimate greed and darn right in-humane.

Then try to defend them because you think that you are like them or they are like you when they couldn't give a darn about you or your family is just plain naive.

So we can agree that fraud in all forms is bad?

It's peanuts compared to the yachts, private planes, 300 million dollar bonuses and multi-million dollar Manhattan apartments that the ceo's have!!!

It's merely an example of some folks at the bottom and middle incomes looking around at the excess and greed of those at the top and finally saying let's get our piece! At least Reagan was smart enough to let some of the excess "trickle" down to keep the pagans happy--the problem recently is that they got so greedy that they didn't even want to let any of it trickle down at all. The million dollar yacht was not good enough, they wanted a 5 million dollar yacht.

There outta be a revolution!

Yes, I think your friend Karl called for one of those a while back...there actually were a few. None of them really worked.

Did Enron play fair? Did many of these corporate execs play fair when they cooked their own books to earn their bonuses? Did they earn those bonuses? I think that the middle class is waking up and saying that the top folks haven't been playing fair so why should we play fair to take back control?
I think it's hillarious when McCain says the American worker is the most productive and the most innovative worker in the world and with their help we will work our way out of this. Guess what, the American worker is tired of carrying the load and if someone doesn't start providing them with affordable health care for their families they are going to start taking action against those that have such excess. It'll be about time too.

See, most of the lenders didn't KNOW they couldn't afford them...because most of the applicants and the MB's colluded to lie to the lender about pertinent information like time on job, position/title, and of course, INCOME.

The only person who probably KNEW they couldn't afford it was the BUYER. but we're too busy crying for them to realize that.

They should have never let me have access to a college education those fools. Was exposed to many ideas about basic human rights which conflict with modern day corporate thinking. It's capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down.

Arent you advocating Socialism?

IMO, ACORN is all about removing personal responsibility for anything. Affirmative action at it's worse.

ACORN is not centered on minorities, but on low- and moderate-income persons. Affirmative action is to assist minorities as defined by federal laws. White men are helped by ACORN, too.

I am not a fan of ACORN, nor a member, but the reality is they have helped, try to petition for laws against predatory lending. Here is their comment on McCain's recent ad that blaims them for the economic crisis (which I must agree with them, is a total joke):
