ACORN and the mortgage meltdown

I did not think of nor use the term "Affirmative action" as a race thing. I think of it as promoting certain targeted people for unrealistic and unearned promotion for something that others worked hard to achieve but are denied just because they do not 'qualify' by some arbitrary criteria. I 'qualified' for some 'affirmative action' freebies just because I'm a female, but I never took advantage of that because I just do not believe it's a good thing.

Sandy NEWS FLASH .. when you register dead people, and you register 20 people at the same address when only two people live there .. its called FRAUD. Now if I remember right you are greatly against mortgage fraud ... so I take its ok to cheat at all costs, fraud included, if you are poor and want to achieve your goal by any means possible when it comes to votes?

If you don't work for ACORN, but you work for another get out the vote drive, and you go and register people to vote, in most states, no matter what that person writes on their registration card, you are obligated to hand it in or else you are commiting fraud. It is fraud if ACORN does not hand in the cards they get (even the false one), it is not fraud when they hand them all in. In fact, before handing in the cards, ACORN goes through each and marks one they believe are incorrect for the election committee to pull right away. It is those cards that make it on the talk shows.

This goes on with every presidential election. Don't listen to me, take ACORN at their own words:

IMO, ACORN is all about removing personal responsibility for anything. Affirmative action at it's worse.

I had not heard about ACORN prior to this most recent dust up. I don't think they are very prevelant here in the NW. I have been reading and trying to get balanced information about them.

From what I have read, I do not see how they are removing personal responsibility. Can you clarify your statement

Jim .. It has happened in my state .. its proven. Im not believing the talking heads .. it has happened here and its being investigated by the FBI. Acorn says they have fired the workers that did it .. so apparently they have even admitted it was done.
There were 26 people registered at one address and two people lived there. The FBI has confirmed that no one else lives at that address. Several people who had previously registered were registered again, simply from the phone book. They are Acorn workers ... now IM sure they will say we didnt direct them to do it .. but the fact remains it happened.

Who accused you of anything about "race", I said "minorities" and stated the truth that white males are supported by the ACORN movement. So are college students.

I think it is funny how there are dozens of lobbiest groups out their promoting relaxed laws, banking, mortgages, real estate sales, the whole 9 yards, from people with lots of money, and not one of them is pointed out specifically as a problem. But in all the nation there is one lobby group for the poor, and somehow the Republican Army has them made out to the be the cause for the fall of Rome.

ACORN has helped, got laws passed in several state, against predatory lending. New Jersey is one of them. They were one of the biggest lobbying groups to fight against predatory lending practices. ACORN certainly has its flaws, but they have really become the most riduculous scape goat I have seen in years.

We know what thye say but we really really dont know ... they call themselves a neutral party yet they received $800,000 from the Obama campaign to assist in voter registration. That doesnt sound neutral to me, given here their registrations are nearly 90% democratic. They have had many allegations against them over the years and I personally think where there is a strong odor .. something is rotten.

We do know what they are doing. They've done it in every election for the past 40 years and each time the Republican machine comes out against them like liberals screaming for paper ballots.

When your focus is on a low and moderate income population, of course the vast majority of your registrants are going to be democrats. Republicans do the same thing. In my bible belt neighborhood of middle to upper class fundamentalists, we've had knockers at our door to register us to vote. I'm sure 90% of their registrants are republicans, and I bet they get ficticious names.

Politics plays like this: Republicans scream "Voter Fraud" and Democrats scream "Election Fraud". It is that way and has been that way since I was a kid.

So, yes, we do not know what is going on, it is called your typical presidential election. You won't hear me scream about touch-screen booths...I kind of like them.

Not to worry, according to most polls the moochers will take over in November. Who knows, maybe the ASB will then be run by trainees and licensed appraisers who can chant in unison "Yes we can".
