Anybody notice a certain large AMC is starting to pull the same thing:

You can't 'bid' the job up because the order will say "digital client" same as it does for a 'no hardcopy full EDI final client' ... so you figure 8) Cool I can do this report for that $$ since I don't have to mess with the paper...

Then when you get the 'you're done' notice it includes a requirement to send two color copies direct to thier client
I think I just took them back off my approved client list...

and you didn't get a chance to charge them $$$ :x

I just gave my old HP 2000 to my best client who I convinced to go the PDF route, best move I've made this year.

I had considered giving a couple of the lenders that I deal with a color printer, but was advised to check with the powers that be as that might be a violation of USPAP.
One of the banks told me that they could not accept any gifts with more than a $50 value. Any thoughts?

Doug, thanks-saved that to my file for future use and hey I don't care of they don't have a sense of humor; they probably don't have any sense at all anyway.

I think this is going to lead everyone into the "pit" of being extremely inquisitive from now on. Ask all the questions you need to upfront, as these slime balls are attempting to become tricky 8O

Times getting close yall, they'll be looking for them "forclosure" quick turns very shortly and it will be time to "C H A R G E" justified fee's, oh yea, upfront of course. We are comming to the era of "pay forward"

Just got a call from a lender; a multi-million dollar lender no less. Known nationally.

They requested I send them a color hard copy for their file. I told them that we had e-mailed the report to them and that when they print it, they have a hard copy. I was then told that all they had was black and white printers. No color printers.

Multi-million dollar lender and not a color printer to be had. Yet my little 2 person office has had a color printer since day one.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

I run into that all the time. Another small indication of the fact that there are too many appraisers. If you charged extra (as you should) for sending the color "originals" they will get another appraiser.

Just a thought about the bank(s) not being able to accept a gift of over $50.00. Sell it to them for $10.00 and other valuable considerations. You get to send them color copies, reduce your costs, and they get around the $$$ cap.

Rick,

Instead of "giving" them a printer, just "place" one in their office with the understandig its still your printer, but they have full use of it. If they ever drop you, at least you get the printer back and there is no USPOOP quandry.

Per USPAP, you would still need to disclose that you are "furnishing" them a printer.

Bob, I would strongly disagree with you. Where does USPAP say that you cannot supply a client a printer for which that client can receive your appraisals. Let me ask you, do you disclose in your appraisals that you paid the fedex fee or express fee to get your appraisal to your client. same difference. sometimes, I think we are absolutely dangerous and causing ourselves untold agony over trying to interpret things in USPAP that just ain't there. I don't do that much edi (except for out of town lenders) but I can assure you that I would have no problem setting up a printer in a clients office if they would let me edi all my appraisals to them. In no way will I interpret that to mean that I am paying someone to get appraisal services. sorry, just my opinion.
