Alalmode- You should be ashamed

I wouldn't be too hard on the software providers. It took the gses 8 years to develop this monstrosity to which they then Hot Potatoed it to the software providers to "make it work".

You're venting your anger in the wrong direction....

Alamode was great compared to the competitors in the beginning of computer appraising. Before I used to handwrite into the form.
I convinced my company to switch to Alamode. Alamode got to complacent with its market share and should have headquartered in Silicon Valley to get the best talent.

After reading about all of the issues with various software that has been released. I am glad I waited for Nighthawk. Not perfect, but I had minimal problems going through my first report. Nowhere near the problems I have been reading about other providers
Bradford in my opinion was always the user friendly software but had less bells and whistles.

Appraisers always been own their own. Thus the old geezards still around are survivors able to adapt and will continue to survive. It's just they see the fees are getting lower and clients/Fannie expect more work out of them. There's a point when it's enough and leave the profession.

I just finished my second 3.6 report. Took about 6 hours, and that includes one hour of driving. I did as much on the desktop as I could. Chose the comp sales in the town that I thought would work. Grid the 4 sales out, etc. That took about 3 hours of work. Still too long. With 2.6 it would have taken half that time. Then I did the inspection. Simple ranch. Took about 35 minutes. Then I drove the comps since they were close and looked at them, took photos. Drove home and finished the report in another 1.5 hours. Altogether took about 6 hours. By the way the mobile app worked fairly well. Still some issues with it. But everything synced to the desktop. Didn’t lose any data. The sketching program needs work on the mobile app.

Clearly the program is not where it should be. Doable, but very clunky.

This is what happens when stuff is crammed down the throats of others, NO ONE thought over this 3.6 stuff, it was just pushed through without ANY thought of the software comanies, appraisers or basically ANYONE, WTH were people expecting, the people are suggesting to "upgrade" to the more expensive plan, that's not going to help, all you'll be doing is paying more and have Al a Mode give you ENDLESS excuses blaming evryone but themselves.

Disagree. The legacy providers have been fleecing appraisers for years without providing any significant product enhancements. It finally caught up to them.

I see your point..... but at least the software was tried and true and it worked.

Just like the HVCC where it took out fee shops Nationwide on top of the entry into appraising, this new "upgrade" is sure to take out a couple of the long-term software providers.

The Legacy providers may have been as you say, fleecing appraisers and doing okay..... but not a combined net worth of $187 billion okay.....The GSEs should have provided a working MISMO template to their liking for the Legacy providers to redesign their software. Lord knows they can afford it.

But to dump it in the lap of the software providers to make it work seems pretty....harsh.

But what do I know....

I guess what I can't wrap my mind around is that the legacy guys had decades of experience in the appraisal report writing space - and yet they're getting thrashed by newbies. It's entertaining.
