Many just like you will stay asleep.
I've sat through their sales presentations, attended their systems training, and I can assure you I did not sleep through any of it; but I've sat through many USPAP classes with appraisers sleeping in the back.
Not sure how that attitude assists the industry.
What doesn't help is nutty posts and threads, wild accusations and claims with no citations. Maybe something happened to the appraisal profession in Australia, I guess we'll never know.
 
Can’t wait for the lawsuits from lawyers. It’s coming. Intellectual data is real. Then the antitrust issues on truth in lending disclosures and state laws are next.

There is no way this system can last. Govt takeover is next on federally insured institutions as client.

Don’t worry about non federally insured institutions.

Honestly I welcome a gov't takeover as long as they honor our licensure and independent appraisal process. Look at how well they treat VA. In this lone instance .. since Cuomo sent the system running.. I would take anything other than this middle man business model.

Yes, and VA could improve and has improved. The success rate of VA is hard for any private business to argue with. Especially through the 2008 debacle.

That govt insurance is the key. Remove that insurance and lenders would totally change their tactics. Regardless, these consumer protection lawyers will eat lunch soon, which will force changes.

State attorneys are on the problems too.

Corelogic will still be a player. It just won’t be the way it is. Some states will make major changes.

A lender treats an in/house loan different from one they are selling too.

What happened is more like a misunderstanding of terms. From the link I previously posted, in Australia, their “appraisal” is similar to our BPO while their “valuation “ is similar to our appraisal.

any business ran by anyone with a semblance of intelligence operates to make a profit, though i'm not surprised you didn't know that. of course a non-profit is the exception but it has non-profit in the name so hopefully you would grasp that concept.
 
Marion Wow just Wow. I wish this was the 2nd post of this thread. I wonder if any of the appraisers who said this is no big deal understand the implications of that article. They have basically hijacked the term "appraisal" and made it equal to "guesswork" and made their technical guesswork superior to what we consider an "appraisal". And when I say they - I mean the entire lending system. Appraisals are useless. The CoreLogic AVM is the standard.

This is EXACTLY what CoreLogic is up to. I wish all appraisers could connect the dots...
What I read is a country where the terms appraisal and valuation are simply flip flopped. Nothing was hijacked. America is not the end all and be all for English folks.
