Not to be political, but,

I find the Trump phenomena very funny.

The people are supporting him and the establishment is freaking out. There is no special interest money to control what he says or does not say, so the more outrageous his speech, the more "the people" like him, the more the establishment slams him, and seeks other alternatives.

But really,

What would the world look like if all "the people" had equal access to electricity, internet, cars, computers, healthcare, safe food and water???? Would an abundance of intellectuals grow from this larger pool of healthy people? Would more capitalists grow from this larger pool of healthy people? How long can the top predators be sustained with a diminishing food supply?

Equal access is not the same as affordability unless all incomes are the same. That is the utopian solution.

Actually I see the Trump issue very similar to global warming.

Put forth the "official" he is bad and "the people" will repeat that and run with it.

Doesn't work with global warming, doesn't work with Trump either.

There is a flaw in the Social Science that tells the establishment, how to control the thoughts and beliefs of the population through memes. But then again, it was only a theory until proven false.

Core samples, tide gauge readings, and, most recently, satellite measurements tell us that over the past century, the Global Mean Sea Level (GMSL) has risen by 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 centimeters). However, the annual rate of rise over the past 20 years has been 0.13 inches (3.2 millimeters) a year, roughly twice the average speed of the preceding 80 years.

Over the past century, the burning of fossil fuels and other human and natural activities has released enormous amounts of heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere. These emissions have caused the Earth's surface temperature to rise, and the oceans absorb about 80 percent of this additional heat.

The rise in sea levels is linked to three primary factors, all induced by this ongoing global climate change:

Thermal expansion: When water heats up, it expands. About half of the past century's rise in sea level is attributable to warmer oceans simply occupying more space.

Found! New Underwater Volcano Discovered in Hawaii

The new volcano, named Ka'ena, was born in the deep underwater channel south of Kauai about 5 million years ago, according to the study, published May 2 in the Geological Society of America Bulletin. Sometime later, Wai'anae rose on Ka'ena's flanks and therefore breached the sea first, breaking through the waves 3.9 million years ago. The researchers think Ko'olau surfaced after that, about 3 million years ago. [See Photos of the Newfound Underwater Volcano]

Ka'ena volcano is about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) high, but only reached about 3,000 feet above sea level, Sinton said. As Oahu's first-born, Ka'ena is the shortest of the three volcanoes because it had to grow farthest from the seafloor to the ocean surface. But the researchers know Ka'ena was once an island peak, because the underwater mountain is capped by lavas with textures that only form in air. With a remotely operated vehicle, the researchers also spied a sandy beach strewn with shark teeth.

Oahu's volcanoes died out about 2 million years ago, and like all of Hawaii's islands, their massive bulk is slowly sinking, hiding Ka'ena beneath the sea.

Disappearing islands

The weight of the Hawaiian volcanoes has pressed down the Earth's crust. The flexing resembles a person standing on a trampoline, causing the springy surface to sag.

"The first ones, because they form in deep water, they kind of escape notice," Sinton said. "We like to think we know how many Hawaiian volcanoes there are, but what we know about what's underwater is a huge area of ignorance," he told Live Science's Our Amazing Planet.

Coincidentally, warming oceans release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

That's why when you look at the graph of carbon that was burned by humans, there is no correlation to atmospheric temperature and CO2 levels.

Volcanic Gases and Their Effects
Magma contains dissolved gases that are released into the atmosphere during eruptions. Gases are also released from magma that either remains below ground (for example, as an intrusion) or is rising toward the surface. In such cases, gases may escape continuously into the atmosphere from the soil, volcanic vents, fumaroles, and hydrothermal systems.

At high pressures deep beneath the earth's surface, volcanic gases are dissolved in molten rock. But as magma rises toward the surface where the pressure is lower, gases held in the melt begin to form tiny bubbles. The increasing volume taken up by gas bubbles makes the magma less dense than the surrounding rock, which may allow the magma to continue its upward journey. Closer to the surface, the bubbles increase in number and size so that the gas volume may exceed the melt volume in the magma, creating a magma foam. The rapidly expanding gas bubbles of the foam can lead to explosive eruptions in which the melt is fragmented into pieces of volcanic rock, known as tephra. If the molten rock is not fragmented by explosive activity, a lava flow will be generated.

Together with the tephra and entrained air, volcanic gases can rise tens of kilometers into Earth's atmosphere during large explosive eruptions. Once airborne, the prevailing winds may blow the eruption cloud hundreds to thousands of kilometers from a volcano. The gases spread from an erupting vent primarily as acid aerosols (tiny acid droplets), compounds attached to tephra particles, and microscopic salt particles.

The volcanic gases that pose the greatest potential hazard to people, animals, agriculture, and property are sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen fluoride. Locally, sulfur dioxide gas can lead to acid rain and air pollution downwind from a volcano. Globally, large explosive eruptions that inject a tremendous volume of sulfur aerosols into the stratosphere can lead to lower surface temperatures and promote depletion of the Earth's ozone layer. Because carbon dioxide gas is heavier than air, the gas may flow into in low-lying areas and collect in the soil. The concentration of carbon dioxide gas in these areas can be lethal to people, animals, and vegetation. A few historic eruptions have released sufficient fluorine-compounds to deform or kill animals that grazed on vegetation coated with volcanic ash; fluorine compounds tend to become concentrated on fine-grained ash particles, which can be ingested by animals.

Could it be that large explosions sending heated lava out on to the earth caused temperatures to rise, until the rocks cooled and the lasting effects of the SO2 have stabilized the "warming" claimed by governments?

Who is tracking these volcanos against make believe temperature changes?

The most significant climate impacts from volcanic injections into the stratosphere come from the conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfuric acid
, which condenses rapidly in the stratosphere to form fine sulfate aerosols. The aerosols increase the reflection of radiation from the Sun back into space, cooling the Earth's lower atmosphere or troposphere. Several eruptions during the past century have caused a decline in the average temperature at the Earth's surface of up to half a degree (Fahrenheit scale) for periods of one to three years. The climactic eruption of Mount Pinatubo on June 15, 1991, was one of the largest eruptions of the twentieth century and injected a 20-million ton (metric scale) sulfur dioxide cloud into the stratosphere at an altitude of more than 20 miles.

The Pinatubo cloud was the largest sulfur dioxide cloud ever observed in the stratosphere since the beginning of such observations by satellites in 1978. It caused what is believed to be the largest aerosol disturbance of the stratosphere in the twentieth century, though probably smaller than the disturbances from eruptions of Krakatau in 1883 and Tambora in 1815.

Consequently, it was a standout in its climate impact and cooled the Earth's surface for three years following the eruption, by as much as 1.3 degrees at the height of the impact.

Sulfur dioxide from the large 1783-1784 Laki fissure eruption in Iceland caused regional cooling of Europe and North America by similar amounts for similar periods of time.

While sulfur dioxide released in contemporary volcanic eruptions has occasionally caused detectable global cooling of the lower atmosphere,

the carbon dioxide released in contemporary volcanic eruptions has never caused detectable global warming of the atmosphere.

This is probably because the amounts of carbon dioxide released in contemporary volcanism have not been of sufficient magnitude to produce detectable global warming.

For example, all studies to date of global volcanic carbon dioxide emissions indicate that present-day subaerial and submarine volcanoes release less than a percent of the carbon dioxide released currently by human activities. While it has been proposed that intense volcanic release of carbon dioxide in the deep geologic past did cause global warming, and possibly some mass extinctions, this is a topic of scientific debate at present.

Oh come on. Didn't they say they don't know about all the underwater volcanos and just found a new one only 3 years ago? Funny, they admit they don't know how many underwater volcanos there are, but they know how much CO2 they are admitting.

“Alien” Life Forms Discovered
The ocean and atmosphere of our planet are always changing – sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. Even deep, dark, cold areas of the ocean change, whether or not anyone is there to see them. In 1977, scientists in a submersible diving near the Galápagos Islands discovered underwater vents — somewhat like a seafloor Old Faithful geyser but in many ways very different.

The Galápagos vents came from volcanic seams on the seafloor and amazingly, scientists found a whole ecosystem living on chemicals pouring from the vents. Until then, scientists believed all life on Earth was part of a photosynthetic food chain, drawing energy from the sun. The discovery revealed hidden “alien” life forms living on our own planet in the dark ocean depths and relying only on chemicals to survive. Tubeworms and huge clams are among the distinctive inhabitants of Pacific Ocean vent sites, while eyeless shrimp have been found at vents in the Atlantic Ocean. Visits to the vents in the following years were rare, because the depth was accessible only to the few available deep-diving submersibles. When NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration supported a Galápagos vents mission in 2002, it had been 12 years since the last visit.

Scientists were shocked to find that in that time, the spectacular “Rose Garden” of giant tubeworms had completely disappeared. They concluded a lava flow had overrun the site, extinguishing its life. The team did discover a new and smaller community of vent animals nearby, a clear sign of renewing life. The scientists dubbed the new vent area “Rosebud.”

Doesn't say much for the 1980's and 1990's studies that knew how much C02 underwater volcanos were releasing does it?


Underwater Volcanoes Erupting Violently
Discoveries near the Galápagos and elsewhere inspired scientists to search for even more exotic places of venting: underwater volcanoes. Over the last several years, NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration has supported three missions to underwater volcanoes along the “Submarine Ring of Fire” in the western Pacific. Oh no, ONGOING C02 releases.

So far, scientists have found more than 30 active vents. One site is venting large quantities of liquid carbon dioxide droplets, :eek: and has a large community of organisms, including football-sized mussels, living in the highly acidic environment.

Scientists also have found a crater filled with molten sulfur and have discovered an erupting underwater volcano violently spewing lava, gas, rock and ash. Had scientists witnessed such an eruption on land, they might have been in danger. But underwater, their remotely operated vehicle could get close enough to take video and chemical samples.

Because the ocean is essential to all life on Earth – driving weather, regulating temperature, and providing oxygen, food, transport, medicines, and energy – it is critical to understand its natural biological, chemical, and physical processes. Fundamental changes at underwater venting sites, though occurring at the bottom of the ocean, can affect life in the ocean and on land. Scientists believe that volcanic eruptions and venting in the ocean have in the past contributed to global extinctions. Yet we also know that these underwater vents can support some forms of life and produce non-living resources. If we are interested in gauging future changes and consequences, we must understand what drives changes today. Because the oceans remain vastly unknown, when it comes to ocean exploration, the more we look, the more we will find.
